People could manufacture their own firearm or other arms when the 2A was written.  Nothing should be different today.

The creepy part is they call it “building so so so’s gun”.

I was t that persons gun, it was how he made it, or came to acquire it.

and to Yeti’s point, people had the means if they were capable enough to make their own firearms when the constitution was being drafted or adopted by which even year you want to pick.
