In our 3/30/2025 Call to Action, we brought your attention to SB8 Safe Gun Storage, a bill proposing to ignore Supreme Court rulings in D.C. V Heller regarding storage; NYSRPA v Bruen regarding text, history and tradition; and US v Rahimi regarding due process.

The anti-gun crowd would like us to ignore that the Heller Court found against the challenged storage requirement.

They would like us to ignore that the Bruen Court requires a history that, in the case of a storage requirement, doesn't exist

They hope we will ignore the Rahimi Court, which said that deprivation of gun rights must be the result of a court finding, not the bureaucratic decree proposed in this legislation.

Unfortunately, SB8 was passed out of the Senate on 4/10/2025, and is now posted to a 4/23/2025 House committee hearing.

At a time when the United States finally enjoys Second Amendment support of a Federal Government that respects our rights, those who would still deny us our freedom should heed the words of Attorney General Pam Bondi:

“This Department of Justice will not stand idly by while States and localities infringe on the Second Amendment rights of ordinary, law-abiding Americans,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “The Second Amendment is not a second-class right, and under my watch, the Department will actively enforce the Second Amendment just like it actively enforces other fundamental constitutional rights.”

Attorney General Bondi hopes that states and localities will voluntarily embrace their duty to protect the Second Amendment rights of their citizens. But if necessary, today’s announcement will be the first of many similar investigations, lawsuits, or other actions involving other localities in California, the State of California itself, and any other states or localities that insist on unduly burdening, or effectively denying, the Second Amendment rights of their ordinary, law-abiding citizens.”

Further, in regard to the newly formed Second Amendment Task Force, DOJ Attorney Harmeet K. Dhillon tweeted just last week:

While we expect the seemingly inevitable Federal suits against Illinois and other states will be fine entertainment, we would rather the State of Illinois not continue to spend money defending it's unconstitutional laws – money it can ill afford to waste.
