solareclipse2 Posted April 7, 2025 at 12:47 PM Posted April 7, 2025 at 12:47 PM I don't have it but I've looked into it quite a bit since it is compatible with the Quest 2 that I have. My big hangup is the controller adapter, between the cost and at the time I looked I couldn't find one that resembled any of the firearms I own that I compete with I decided against it. That said, my gripe is entirely a princess gripe and the software itself and how realistic it is is something else entirely. I know that a LOT of competitive shooters are using it and it's very highly regarded. I may revisit this at some point and look for a 3D printed file for something I'd like.
TomKoz Posted April 8, 2025 at 05:46 AM Author Posted April 8, 2025 at 05:46 AM (edited) Trying to make sure I can mirror images to my tv screen. Wouldn’t be much fun if others involved couldn’t watch in real time. I’m an old guy with no IT experience. If / once I can assure the the above … I’ll take the plunge. Looks fun. 🤩 Edited April 8, 2025 at 05:48 AM by TomKoz

Looks fun. 🤩 It's been a while since I played with my Quest but I remember being able to stream games to my TV. What I can't remember is if it was an in-game setting or a Quest setting. The thing I do remember is that there was, for some reason that option didn't work for me and I had to do some screen mirroring or AirPlay from my phone (which was getting the game video) to my TV. I am pretty sure that was a "me" problem though, likely due to my TV and having an iPhone or me completely not knowing my behind from a hole in the ground.

r4ndy Posted November 26, 2025 at 02:45 AM Posted November 26, 2025 at 02:45 AM (edited) Old thread, but I’m in the garage enjoying a cigar, so WTH… I bought a Quest 3 and the Ace Arctus handset and subscription about 5 months ago. I have about 40,000 rounds logged (seems crazy to me). I bought it to get some more practice in as the clubs I belong to are 50-90 minutes away and elder care has consumed a big chunk of the time I used to be able to spend at the range. I have found the pro’s far outweigh the cons for me. I am a mid pack shooter in IDPA, USPSA and 3G. Ace has been great for speeding up my movement, transitions, target focus, trigger control and stage planning. Gains seen in the game are showing up on the range, though not 1:1. There is a little simulated recoil in the game but no actual recoil, so deficiencies in grip show a little but not as much as in live fire where more work is needed. The ability to run a stage several times, in different ways and see all your splits has been very helpful. The only con I have found is it is easy to get sucked in to trying to get higher scores and start to practice sloppy and need to slow down and continue working on fundamentals vs gaming it. i haven’t practiced drawing as I am waiting for a VP9 aftermarket handset to be produced. Ace is not useful for mag changes, some aftermarket handsets have removable mags, but you can’t see the pistol or mags with the headset on, so not really helpful. While pricey at about $800 year one for headset, handset and subscription plus $140 thereafter, they keep adding stages and you can work a single stage repeatedly or do a series, which is 5 stages simulating a match. Considering it is 4 hours min for an hour on the range from packing up gear and steel targets then back to the house plus gas and ammo I think the money was well worth it for the ability to practice more than dry fire at home. Plus it is fun and relaxing after work to spend 30 minutes on the simulated range. Edited November 26, 2025 at 02:46 AM by r4ndy
