President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order demanding that the Department of Justice review "all orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements, and other actions of executive departments and agencies" for any infringement on Americans' Second Amendment rights.

He further ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to prepare a plan for the protection of those rights and work with the executive branch to implement it.

"The Second Amendment is an indispensable safeguard of security and liberty," Trump wrote. "It has preserved the right of the American people to protect ourselves, our families, and our freedoms since the founding of our great Nation.  Because it is foundational to maintaining all other rights held by Americans, the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed."

I’m going to be filing a civil rights complaint with the DOJ over PICA and all the corruption at the ILSC w/Rochford

For the record, I politely and succinctly filed an ethics complaint with the Illinois Judicial Review Board (whatever it's called) and was rebuffed.

Not bad.  It's a start.

Is there a short list of what can be undone by EO?  I assume legislation will be needed to undo a lot of stuff, though.

I don't read that to limit the potential actions to executive orders only, or even executive orders plus legislation.  DOJ could, potentially, bring suit against the states.

PLEASE do so !  Then provide instructions / copy & paste so others can also.  Guessing we can get a bunch of people on here to do the same.  That may get their attention!!!

Illinois politicians won’t be too happy about the Trump DOJ sniffing around!!

EO = Temp = OK

Legislation = Permanent = Much Better

Pay attention to this. Knew it immediately lol. Trace (Everytown) knows they’re in trouble lol. They can undo decades here if they want. Don’t hold your breath though…..let’s be realistic (but can be wrong)

I get the feeling if Trump, or anyone else for that matter opened up 2A to include all weapons in the military except for nukes, and declared nationwide open and concealed carry, that it still wouldn’t be enough, nor soon enough.

Personally, I figured we would have to wait for somewhere in the 90 day mark for any actions like this, it’s early IMO and welcome.

Why is it limited to the former administration?

The bump stock ban was under his first administration. He did nothing to stop it. Of course, it was challenged by a private citizen and was declared to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 2024. Could there be other anti-2A regulations from various administrations prior to 2021 that may still be in effect?

He has sure gotten a lot accomplished in his short time back in the oval. I hope he can keep up this pace and eventually does a bunch of 2A rollbacks. Illinois residents need some relief big time.

Legislation is not permanent, it's sometimes harder to change, but certainly not permanent.

Court rulings based on civil rights violations of the Constitution that moot most of the current legislation against gun (and other arms) are the most permanent and where we really need to get and this EO is a start in that direction and hopefully the DoJ follow through and files suit against several states for civil rights violations.

During his first term he took advice from the NRA.  It was a mistake to think they still had gun owner's interest as a top priority, especially on bump stocks.  It was a mistake made from good intentions regarding the 2A, and he learned from it.

Both of his predecessors, on the other hand, have shown nothing but malice toward our rights, both in word and/or in deed.

Exactly right. Make laws or the next time the vermin are in charge, it all goes away. They'll have to work around the usual suspects, though. McConnell, Murkowski, and Collins.

I would be happy with cheap AK variants...

Only way that is going to happen is either Norinco or Saiga and I doubt either of them is gonna happen. Truth is that the AR platform is superior in almost every way and for half the money. I was a long time AR skeptic until I sat down and really studied the genius of the design.
