TylerHunter Posted November 23, 2024 at 09:10 PM Share Posted November 23, 2024 at 09:10 PM In August 2015 my FOID was revoked after I admitted myself to a hospital for mental health treatment (not drug related). In November 2023 I submitted all of the appeal documentation using certified mail and have confirmation the envelop was received. I did not re-apply for my FOID before submitting my appeal. Over one year later now, and still no correspondence. What are my options? Should I request a hearing?
John Q Public Posted November 23, 2024 at 09:45 PM Share Posted November 23, 2024 at 09:45 PM It's sad, but the reason many never seek help because they know their 2nd goes in the bin. They act like they all care about mental health, but if you ask for it, you are on the no fly list. It's counter productive, and if you ask for help, it should be a simple as a sign-off from those who treated or evaluated. I would take to me reps and to a lawyer. I feel for ya here Ty, we want people to seek help if they need it, but then why do we persecute them for the admission....? JQ
TylerHunter Posted November 26, 2024 at 03:36 PM Author Share Posted November 26, 2024 at 03:36 PM Thank you John. Sounds like I should request a hearing and get representation.
Penumbra1811 Posted December 23, 2024 at 12:55 PM Share Posted December 23, 2024 at 12:55 PM (edited) It took me over a year to get mine. I called my state reps and kept emailing ISP and calling them every week. Maybe try the same thing. Mine was not as the same as yours I appealed when I got my denial letter but mine was over two non violent felonies. I got a letter from ISP one day and opened it up and my Foid card fell out. I then went on and got my CCL. Good luck. Molly B also helped. Edited December 23, 2024 at 12:56 PM by Penumbra1811
