On January 21, the appellate court tentatively scheduled oral arguments for the week of March 30. On January 22, the appellate court moved oral arguments to the week of April 27.

Just as a reminder: the ATF was appealing the district court's preliminary injunction (which only applied in TX) against the ATF "engaged in the business" regulation. The trial continues in district court, where several states are intervening to defend the ATF rule, because they don't think the Trump DOJ will defend the rule there. (They're probably right. The show's not quite over yet.)

On May 12, the judge interpreted the status report as a request to stay the case and ordered parties to file briefs regarding a stay as follows: 05/15: ATF's motion to stay due 05/22: TX's response due 05/29: ATF's reply due On May 15, ATF filed its motion to stay the case.
