On September 3 in district court, the judge extended the abeyance until October 21.

On August 30 in appellate court, the court extended the stay.

On October 20 in appellate court, the ATF moved to extend the stay. Texas opposed.

On October 28, the appellate court extended the stay until December 22.

On December 22 in appellate court, the ATF moved to extend the stay. Texas opposed.

On January 13 in appellate court, the court denied ATF's motion to stay.

On January 21, the appellate court tentatively scheduled oral arguments for the week of March 30.

On January 22, the appellate court moved oral arguments to the week of April 27.

On March 20, the court scheduled oral arguments for April 28.

On April 16 in appellate court, the ATF filed a motion to dismiss its appeal. The court granted the motion.

Just as a reminder: the ATF was appealing the district court's preliminary injunction (which only applied in TX) against the ATF "engaged in the business" regulation.

The trial continues in district court, where several states are intervening to defend the ATF rule, because they don't think the Trump DOJ will defend the rule there. (They're probably right. The show's not quite over yet.)

On April 24 in district court, the judge ordered parties to file a join status report by May 8.

On May 8, ATF filed a joint status report.

On May 12, the judge interpreted the status report as a request to stay the case and ordered parties to file briefs regarding a stay as follows:

05/15: ATF's motion to stay due
05/22: TX's response due
05/29: ATF's reply due

On May 15, ATF filed its motion to stay the case.
