More Witness Slips Needed!


 

We are hearing rumblings of possible movement on HB4469 Firearms - Domestic Violence.

 

One of several recent versions of domestic violence legislation, this bill requires law enforcement to seize firearms, ammunition and parts, in many cases based on ex parte hearings in which the subject of the order has been given no notice or opportunity to speak in their own defense. The bill allows no transfers to family or friends for temporary safe keeping.

 

Recognizing that this kind of rash, potentially aggressive process cannot end well for anyone involved, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and a number of local law enforcement agencies have filed witness slips opposing this bill.

 

Please join the Illinois Chiefs, local law enforcement and IllinoisCarry in opposing this bill. Your immediate attention is requested since this may be heard as early as tomorrow, 3/12/2024.
