on a road way should be ok.  NOT in any property supported by Public funds.  I can conceal carry a pistol in a state park, but cannot have a camp axe-knife with a 3 inch or longer blade.  Class 2 weapon. without written permission from the site security officer.  and good luck getting that, I emailed IDNR about a long camp knife for camping with firewood, and got denied, even though I request was ¨reasonable¨ per the law.

I looked at some material concerning knife law here in IL, but saw nothing pertaining to swords.

IMO:

A sword is a purpose built long knife. It's only intended working purpose is combat... the "assault weapon" of blades. Authorities may question the intent of someone openly carrying a sword, or any other extra long knife.

Cheers,

And for serving delicious animal products.

Ever been to a churrascaria?

"Yes, officer, I'm on my way to a barbeque."

Sabering the tops off of champagne bottles is fun as well.
