Anybody know from which state the CCL holder hailed?  This is interesting - several other articles mention his license "allowed him to carry from state to state".  But as far as I know IL honors no other states.  However, they let the guy go with no charges.  I'm pretty surprised, but pleasantly so.

Probably another case like we'd hear once in a great while about someone on the brink of meeting their maker yet miraculously find a gun to protect themselves but without a permission slip I mean FOID.

Peoria PD may have decided that was not worth the effort to pursue the matter further. They have that discretion. They can always have another look. His name and address are on file. They might be spending more time on the other robbers.

Juries are not predictable, even in NYC.

FWIW: Peoria is not a 2A sanctuary county.

If it went to court and the judge ruled in favor of the out of state CCL holder, it would set a precedent that they don't want in Illinois.

Similar to how before McDonald v. City of Chicago, despite a complete ban on handguns, nobody was ever charged for defending their home with a gun.
