On February 10, the judge held a status hearing. The trial is scheduled for March.

On March 11 in district court, the case got transferred to a different judge, who set a trial date of April 6.

On April 7, the jury returned a verdict of guilty for the resisting charge.

On April 14, the judge set a sentencing hearing for July 9.

On April 24, Ayala filed a motion for acquittal and a motion for a new trial.

On April 28, the judge denied both motions without prejudice. If Ayala wants to file amended motions, he has until May 8.

On May 8, Ayala filed amended motions for acquittal and a new trial.

On May 15, the judge ordered the US to respond by May 29.

On May 26, the US asked for more time to respond.

On May 29, the judge granted the motion, ordered parties to propose a new schedule, and canceled the July 9 sentencing hearing.

Ayala is in trouble again.

Emmanuel Ayala, 39, rear-ended another vehicle near Glory Days on Cortez Boulevard on June 26, causing injuries, and fled the scene in his vehicle. Soon after Ayala was located in his vehicle but fled an attempted traffic stop into a neighborhood west of Mobley Road. He abandoned the vehicle behind a residences, removed the license plate and went into the woods on foot. When the vehicle was found, deputies also learned Ayala was on federal probation for resisting arrest.

Ayala then requested an Uber as a getaway ride, but the driver noticed law enforcement in the area as well as the active perimeter and provided deputies with Ayala's pickup location near the wood line along Cortez Boulevard.

When Ayala was found and taken into custody, it was discovered he had his two young children with him. Neither child was injured and both were released to their mother.

Ayala was charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement by the HCSO and Florida Highway Patrol added a charges of leaving the scene of a crash with injury and endangering his children. A federal judge also signed a probation violation warrant and Ayala is [being] held without bond.

On June 29, the magistrate held a bond revocation hearing.

On June 30, Ayala was released from federal custody without additional bond. There's an addition "detention" docket entry, which I believe means he's being held in jail by the Hernando County sheriff's office, since there's no federal order to detain him.

It's not a good look.

On July 23, the US asked for more time to respond to Ayala's amended motion for new trial and acquittal.

On July 27, the magistrate extended the time for the US response to September 30. The September 30 sentencing hearing has been canceled. Parties are to recommend a time to reschedule the sentencing hearing.
