"There could be a popular revolt if SCOTUS overturns bans"

There could be a “popular revolt,” if the Supreme Court blocks some kinds of gun control legislation, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said Sunday.

“If the Supreme Court eventually says that states or the Congress can’t pass universal background checks or can’t take these assault weapons off the streets, I think there’s going to be a popular revolt over that policy,” Murphy, an outspoken gun control advocate, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“A court that’s already pretty illegitimate, is going to be in full crisis mode,” Murphy added.

So in other threads I've speculated that IL will say FU to the courts and continue to enforce PICA.   IL has already declared freedom week guns to be illegal - ignoring a court order.

Now a dem senatard is essentially saying the same thing.

This question needs be asked every time there are proposed restrictions on the Second Amendment:

Would you be in favor of applying these same restrictions COLLECTIVELY to the First, Fifteenth, Nineteenth, Twenty-fourth AND Twenty-sixth Amendments?

If the answer is in the negative then the restrictions are not appropriate for the Second.

If the answer is “that’s different” then the restrictions are not appropriate for the Second as the Amendments are EQUAL.

How is this not seditious conspiracy?

Of course, no charges will ever be filed.

Some people are more equal than others.

Who is responsible for filing charges against a Congressman who incites rebellion against a lawful order?

It seems when Trump farts in an elevator there are 9 DAs, 15 subpoenas, 4 committees and a swat team in his bathroom.

Just asking, because you know, all these official looking folks yakking about the Bidens on tv seem to lose interest at the commercial break.

They are banking on another backlash against the Court like the one from the abortion ruling.

You can see the build up in the media about all the shootings and they have their foot on the gas to keep it in front of the people to continue to force feed the narrative. they want nothing more then to flip the court to enshrine their form of government in a permanent state. And they can't pack the court or get rid of the filibuster at this point, only the rabid left are for packing the court.

The republicans and pro-life community were like the dog that caught the car with the Dobbs decision and had no plan to deal with the outcome politically, electorally or otherwise. And they hope to catch lighting in a bottle again if the Court says no to semi-auto bans or other things

I'm going out on a limb here but if they didn't cave over RvW (the biggest ruling of my lifetime) I am hoping they don't cave over this......however after the Nobama care its a tax but not a tax tax backstabbing from Roberts we can never say for sure.

Do they want us to play by their rules? Have they considered what that means? Democracy is rule without restraint by the strong stomping on the weak. I will not be the weak.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for lunch.

A constitutional republic is the sheep carrying a gun making sure he's not lunch.

Another veiled (or not so veiled) threat against our judicial system.  Who is going to be their next George Floyd?

No, they are taking the "gloves" off.  This is going to end up as a "bare knuckle bruiser".

Write another polite letter to King George asking permission to be free.

Yeah, right.  Fat lot of good it did the Founders.

What rules?  They don't have any and, even if they did, they STILL wouldn't play by "rules".

Conservatives delude themselves about the "rules".

Pretending that there are rules and the obligation to follow them is just denying the chaos and anarchy that already exists.

Conservative believe in law and order. Rules trump anarchy. Rules help guide a civil society. It is hard for a good person to shun what is right and just. Progressives haves no problem rejecting law for violence to bully people into kowtowing to the bully's will. Good people must defend what is right by standing up to bullies.

Adding to your truths: Conservatives seek sustainability, so that good programs can survive the tests of time. "Progressives" demand that EVERY feelz be satisfied immediately (like a diaper change), without any thought to costs or unintended consequences. Government is always additive for them - more money, more new agencies, more new layers of bureaucracy.  Never a review that would prune old rotten wood to make room for new productive growth.  Where does MOMS DEMAND lead?  More Gun Free Zones and easy targets for maniacs whose mental health needs never get treated (or removed from society).  More mob rule and anarchy where individuals cannot defend themselves. And a weak U.S. falls deeper under Chinese control, Chinese AI, Chinese trade deficits, and so on.
