As I'm reading this, the gun was not loaded with live ammo - it was loaded with snap caps like he was coming from training. I'm feeling like this kid is getting railroaded.
Illinois Sucks Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:19 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:19 PM $35,000 cash to get out of jail for a MISDEMEANOR????? There is an agenda going on for sure.
solareclipse2 Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:22 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:22 PM So he's 21...is he an adult or is he a kid? Does a different set of rules apply because he's technically as student there even though he's not a high school student?
DaveIL Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:33 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 02:33 PM Read this article last night, was wondering if the parking lot rule applies, or it that for us CCW folks only, and could he have just said No to the search?

I was being careful not to call him a kid but missed one. I've been old enough to avoid the bars were kids go for a while although lately that seems to be anyone under 30. 😁

That rule is only for the CCW folks. That right there seems like enough to bring up equal protection implications.
BobPistol Posted April 14, 2023 at 03:33 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 03:33 PM Center console = container. Gun was unloaded and in a case. FOID carry. This case is toast.
Jeffrey Posted April 14, 2023 at 03:52 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 03:52 PM Had he been just to the east, he would have been released and slapped on the shoulder on his way out. Forgiven.
DaveIL Posted April 14, 2023 at 04:07 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 04:07 PM I think they were just happy to justify the cost of their gun powder sniffing dog.
mikew Posted April 14, 2023 at 05:06 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 05:06 PM Hmm, an adult with a FOID. What if this was a parent?
mikew Posted April 14, 2023 at 05:06 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 05:06 PM Would some place like USCCA cover the defense and the bail? Asking for a friend.
OneGun Posted April 14, 2023 at 06:58 PM Posted April 14, 2023 at 06:58 PM The bail would have been higher if his name was Trump!
Tango7 Posted May 5, 2023 at 08:06 PM Posted May 5, 2023 at 08:06 PM It shows the charge as "unauthorized possession/storage of weapons" and the bond being reduced on the 17th, but he's still in custody.
RECarry Posted May 5, 2023 at 08:19 PM Posted May 5, 2023 at 08:19 PM Did the dog truly "Alert" to a gun, or did police target the car based on his FOID and license plate reader?

If they searched every car at Antioch that had a FOID linked to the plate they would have been there a good long while.

2A4Cook Posted May 6, 2023 at 01:57 AM Posted May 6, 2023 at 01:57 AM You're allowed to FOID carry damned near anywhere. What is this crap? If he was a gangbanger with a loaded Glock with an autosear tucked into his pants, they'd take the gun away and let him go, 'cause equity. This kid gets treated like a domestic terrorist. They are coming for us, folks.
