Democrat congress critters (also known as communist swine) now pressuring the DuPage Sheriff

The gun owners of dupage better step up and support the sheriff. He is literally risking his career for the gun owners of DuPage.

The people calling for his resignation need to realize, though, that they are in office because of districts contrived to ensure they would be elected.  Sheriff Mendrick, on the other hand, has the straight up grass roots support of the people of DuPage County.  No tricks.  No gerrymandering.  Just plain old support.

That isn't meant in any way to diminish what he's doing.  On the contrary, it's because he is a man of good character that he's in office, with no shenanigans needed.

Sheriff Mendrick was reelected last November, running unopposed. Overall, the people of DuPage County must be quite satisfied with his performance. If not, surely a county of over 900,000 people could have fielded an electoral opponent.

The ban on CCW is really on the books in Elmhurst, and it's been there since before CCW.
Yes, state law preempts it now.  But it's still the law Elmhurst.

I came to know about it when Elmhurst was going to consider zoning to allow firearm retail sales in the city, only to be put in a very undesirable class of establishments, post-Ezell II.
I let the city council know that the CCW law was still there.  That was years ago.

I thanked him on FB and via email, voted for him last time he was up for election, and will be voting for him again.

Thank god Sheriff aren't voted on via gerrymandered districts.

Hundreds flood DuPage County Board meeting to speak out on sheriff’s statement against enforcing state’s ban on assault weapons

There were more people at today’s public comment than I’ve ever seen in my four years on this board,” said DuPage County Board member Dawn DeSart, a Democrat representing District 5.

Shocking no one, the Democrats are feeling upset about upholding a civil right over an illegal law meant to criminalize county residents. The ones complaining about this have not skin in the game other than their irrational fears of firearms and firearm owners

After public comment, DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy, a Democrat, said she plans to introduce a resolution at the next board meeting on Feb. 14 to censure the sheriff for his statement. Conroy said that words matter and the repercussions of what we say can be “dangerous at times.”

“It is my feeling that the board needs to have confidence that our sheriff is focusing on the safety of our residents and not engaging in inflammatory political rhetoric,” Conroy said.

Paywalled article. Were there more folks in support of the sheriff vs opposed to him?

The Dems are in favor of enforcing the law, except when it comes to protecting our boarders. Then their cities become sanctuaries for illegals.

Thanks for sharing.  The turnout and support is encouraging to see.  Always interesting to note that the "feelings" based arguments never account for our side having feelings about safety too.

Your feelings are invalid, because you're a monster /s     (And yes, I'm talking to you Yeti!)

Wont happen again.

I am proud of the Dupage County Sheriff though.

Just frustrated with the abuse headed his way for refusing to enforce an unconstitutional and dangerous law.

Its almost like he is being singled out and they wish to make an example out of him.
