Informational Update

Leading the Way Against

Tyranny

Valinda & Mike Rowe, spokespersons for IllinoisCarry, met with incoming Senate minority leader John Curran and House minority leader Tony McCombie this past Wednesday along with Senators Terri Bryant & Darren Bailey and Representatives Dave Severin & Patrick Windhorst. Their goal was to make clear that with the Supreme Court NYSRPA v Bruen ruling, any legislator who voted for the unconstitutional provisions in HB5855/SB2226 would be violating their oath of office and could face strong repercussions from voters come election time. It was a very good meeting. All present understood well the situation and promised firm no votes. We explained that we knew the Republicans don’t have the votes to stop the bill but, we wanted them to oppose it as a unified block.

At this time, the unconstitutional bill has passed the House with the only Republican voting for the bill being Rep. Jim, “off-the-rails soon to be former House Republican Leader”, Durkin. Even though it appears the Democrats have the votes to pass the bill in the senate, we are hoping Republican senators will uphold their party platform and vote against the bill. If and when the bill passes, we stand ready to challenge the law in the courts.

In 1862, Victor Hugo gave the world Les Miserable. Now little more than musical entertainment it was, at the time, a strong statement illustrating how easily the lives of the poor and downtrodden in society can devolve even further when subject to unjust laws. In it the protagonist, Jean Valjean, is imprisoned for his desire to provide for his family, a desire that led to the theft of a loaf of bread. The novel asks the reader to consider whether true justice requires absolute adherence to the letter of law. It asks the reader to weigh obedience, against mercy and understanding.

In a more modern context, regardless of how we identify, are we not all Jean Valjean? Are we not all Rosa Parks? Do we not all desire to ensure the welfare of ourselves and our families? Will we not struggle with choices of conscience and circumstance just as difficult as theirs?

Will obedience rule, or will Illinois go the way of Chicago residents who “carry for protection”, and did so even when handguns were banned in that city?

Will unjust law be the way of Illinois, the way it was when a zip of weed could ruin your life and the life of your family?

Are our rights less important now than in 1862, when Jean Valjean fed his family? Are they less critical to freedom than in 1955, when Rosa Parks chose to occupy a seat she was told to vacate?

To the residents of Illinois, choose wisely.

To the legislators returning to Springfield on Sunday, do you remember the thing about no cash bail? That thing the court just struck down?

Yeah, despite the assurances of your leadership, that was unconstitutional, too.

Legislative Update

On January 6 , the so called House of Representatives amended SB2226 Amusement Ride Safety to become the Protect Illinois Communities Act. As is typical in Illinois, they did this in the middle of the night, out of view of the citizens they claim to represent and having given those citizens only hours to review and analyze their amendment.

Members of the House should ask themselves, do they really represent their constituents or have their votes been bought, by special interests? As every parent has told their children, if you had to hide what you did, you knew it was wrong.

Freedom loving residents of Illinois now stand ready to fight this bill, and others like it, in the Senate. Freedom loving residents of Illinois now stand ready to fight this in court, should it become law, shielded by the Constitution and armed by the words of the New York Rife and Pistol Association v Bruen ruling.

We will prevail.

Freedom will prevail.

Maybe Durkin will pay. All the rest will be lauded by most of the media and their Democrat voters for "making Illinois safer by preventing gun violence" and other fairy tales.

Thanks to Valinda and Mike. Those in power still have to be reminded of their oaths and responsibilities. Maybe someday it will sink in.

I will remind people, it's not so much about violating an oath of office. Democrats really believe the second amendment only extends to handguns. We will get there with semi-automatic rifles and magazine capacities. But right now, people like Welch only care because the money is with MDA and similar suburban groups. What are we doing about it? Where is our truth? Where is our outreach?

We need to stop arguing it's a violation. We need to go beyond self-defense.

Owning firearms is for people who want to protect themselves against gangs, especially police. The more suburban and urban your environment becomes, the less likely you are to know the people in your community. So that's why owning AR-15's is an important ordeal. There are bad cops, all over suburbia. When you buy an AR-15, or AK-47, it makes them more fearful of abusing their power.

Getting back to a question posed here. Not one man can ever be law abiding. Not one police officer, can ever find themselves, just doing their job.

We know the truth, when we feel and see it. The law only hurts good people and draws lines that cut across the most interesting crowds.

I look forward to sending Welch some grape juice, because once this gets signed into law - everything is up for grabs. Dare I say, people

in Highland Park might be Highland Park strong, when they're finally allowed to "possess" an AR-15, after going to Chicago to buy

standard capacity magazines from future Armslist ads. The future is bright!

It mostly comes down to money.  There is lots of money in combatting violence (and of course you have to facilitate the violence first) and that money can be siphoned off for many other uses.  It doesn't really matter which political party, they are all drunk on taxpayer money and that guides their decisions more than anything else.

Were any non bought and sold Dem Senators, particularly those in areas that may be Dem because of union support, but somewhat pro=2A, or at least not bought and sold MDA/Bloomberg puppets, about the same thing?  I'd like to believe there are some Dem legislaters that actually have morals, and take their oaths seriously.  And, I am willing to bet a few of them have no idea about Bruen, or Heler (in common use, can not be infringed')

We are also number 2 this year for most firearms being sold, and guaranteed those are mostly “evil” weapons, thus in common use

As a person who has been the victim of a near deadly attack, and having a family member's husband killed in her presence, while she was shot and nearly killed, the post resonated strongly with me.

Thank you for presenting your (and my) position so clearly.

Thank you for sharing that.

Excellent post, and timely.  It's not the day we've wanted, but is the day we have been expecting and fighting against.
