I’m really digging her. She’s good

That was a big misstep. The shooter bought the gun legally. He was over 21, didn't need dad to vouch for him anymore. The story there is the incompetence of the ISP and the HP police that allowed him to buy the arms despite the incidents in his past.

I concur.  Based on the information that I have read, she misstated what had happened.

She threw their narrative back in their face.  I'd have preferred she point out when he bought it, too, but it kind of shut them up.

The issue was the ISP did not keep the clear and present danger report that would have called the father's permission for the FOID into question.

Early on they were saying that the local PD did not report as much as they could have too.

I was really wishing that Rep Stoneback got reminded of her 'Truth In Politics Act' in relation to one of her fibs. I chuckled when she referred to JAMA as JAWA...guessing her political reward is a job on the JAWA - Joint Action Water Agency board in Lake County.

Ya, we send them over to protect and defend and then bring them home, and tell them they don't have the right to defend themselves. "Nuts."

It's bad enough that if they admit they have some form of PTS they are automatically prohibited from owning, and carrying firearms. That should be on a case by case basis, not a blanket denial.

Either way, this (once a lawsuit it brought forward) will have an impact on the laws here. Bruen changed the game, and the anti-rights crowd are in for a surprise

Thanks everyone for the updates and discussions. It has to be very hard to debate the issues when your opponent is so very ignorant to the actual facts and statistics. It has to be very frustrating for those speaking and debating on our behalf. I'm grateful for all of you.

Dropping this here so I can keep track of it:

https://www.cities929.com/2022/12/20/civil-disobedience-enforcement-of-proposed-illinois-gun-ban-questioned/

Before ending a nearly five-hour House hearing Tuesday, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, said more hearings are expected.

“Obviously this plane has not landed. With that said, this is our last hearing this year, this calendar year,” Slaughter said.

Oh so the mayor emailed him? FOIA time!!!

If it's former mayor, it's probably Elliot Hartstein or Jeffrey Braiman. They were both in favor or passing an AWB in Buffalo Grove back when they had 10 days to pass something when the CCL law was passed. Hartstein (former Village Pres at the time) came up to the public microphone to advocate for it, and Braiman passed the tiebreaking vote after the trustees were split. Of course Sussman was also in favor of it.

Really wish Todd would rethink the " "Yes, there are certain arms, hand grenades, explosives, other things like that that do not belong in civilian hands."

In text, history, and tradition those items were legal.

You could buy dynamite at the hardware store until the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970, and after that only a $5 license was needed until the Safe Explosives Act of 2002 when the government got paranoid about terrorists.

That said gunpowder is an explosive, although not technically a high explosive, but we shouldn't be telling them they can restrict any common weapons or components a soldier would use, otherwise you might was well cross off the "well regulated" part of the Second Amendment.

Dart: "6 round, 9mm is the standard for his officers"

He's misinformed or lying.

ISP Kelly says "15 round, 3 mags standard."

So they need 45 rounds on them at all times but we must be limited to 10 rounds because Bloomberg and his lackeys say so and can decide what is high capacity instead of the gun manufacturers?

Claims that most gun owners want reasonable public health measures.

Refers to "assault rifles"   "Decreasing access to firearms such as these saves the lives of children."

"Provisions that raise the age of FOID cards especially impacts children."  Discusses how homicide rates between 18 and 20 is much higher than other age ranges.

claims Young black children and teens are 15x more likely to die by firearm

notes that mass shootings and school shootings are a small percentage of deaths.  Claims that suicides go up in those communities.

All lies and made up statistics from Bloomberg. Doubt any child was killed by a rifle in Illinois. American Association of Pediatrics funded by Bloomberg and his cabal like so many other groups and corrupt politicians who have no clue and doing what they're told. They are conspiring to take away our Constitutional right and pushing his agenda and shoving his will down our throats. These are verbatim all his schemes him and other billionaires and foundations are trying to pass and impose on us. He even funds the Police Chiefs Association. He is such a control freak and is spending160 million to also ban E-cigarettes. He will use every dirty trick in the book to get his way.
