Yes, some. It gives those who support the 2nd amendment one more piece of ammo to use in the hearings and more importantly denies this to those who want to destroy our rights. Many times the pro-2a legislators will talk about the massive unpopularity of these anti-gun measures and use witness slips to bolster that argument. We will never have any influence with the dedicated anti-gun fools, but it may be enough among other things to help sway those on the fence who vote whichever way the wind blows. mauserme Posted December 14, 2022 at 04:28 PM Author Share Posted December 14, 2022 at 04:28 PM If nothing else, it keeps the sponsor from saying "I know of no opposition" during floor debate. They've used this ploy against us in the past, when we weren't so vocal.

Laws are presumptively constitutional when passed. Therefore legislators cannot be arrested for passing laws. Also, since arrest is an executive power, arresting legislators for passing laws would itself violate the Constitution. Deprivation of rights under color of law is when a person, usually a cop -- but not necessarily even a government employee, asserts as legal an authority he doesn't have to force you to do something, like enter your home, provide personal information, etc. Yep. The legislators would be immune. It would be law enforcement, including the state's attorneys that would take the hit here. This would be years after they already ruined your life and bankrupted you with legal fees. That said, it could be interesting to remind people that a Republican administration could be only 2 years away.
