Possibly because no one listens to the current president.

Bill Clinton makes midterm pitch for gun control

By Tom Knighton

Before this year, the last bit of federal gun control passed was the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban, passed under then-President Bill Clinton.

As a result of that passage, at least in part, the midterm elections that followed were a proverbial bloodbath for Democrats. They lost control of the House–for the first time since 1950, it should be noted–and Senate and it was a slog for the president to get anything passed.

...

Despite that, Clinton is once again trying to push for gun control.

Former President Clinton called on Congress to take further action on gun violence on Wednesday, particularly pushing for the revival of a federal assault weapons ban.

“We must act now,” Clinton says in a video with the media company ATTN:. “Enough is enough.”

Clinton emphasizes the effectiveness and broad bipartisan support of the federal assault weapons ban that he signed into law in 1994 and that Congress allowed to expire in 2004. The law received support at the time from former Presidents Carter, Ford and Reagan.

“They called it a ‘matter of vital importance to the public safety,’” Clinton says in the video. “They were right then, and they’re still right today.”

Except, the general consensus is that the 1994 law actually accomplished nothing. While many claimed the law reduced homicides, the murder rate was dropping before the law’s passage and continued dropping well after the law sunset.

...

He argues he grew up in the gun culture, so he knows how to talk to those of us down here who value the Second Amendment.

Um…I hate to break it to him, but any gravitas he thinks he has with southern gun owners is infinitely more than he actually has. Too many of us remember him pushing for an assault weapon ban, pretending to be all high and mighty as he cheated on his wife in the Oval Office with an intern.

That doesn’t play well in the Deep South. Nor does someone who moved up north after milking what he could out of his southern roots.

Clinton is little more than a private citizen, and while he has the right to espouse literally any policy he wants as a private citizen, we don’t have to listen.

I suspect few others will bother to do so, either.

Within a matter of days, the blue party is about to get wiped off the map of relevence, and he is calling for national bans on guns. Ok, go with that then.

Just remember even though they will NOT be in charge they throw some mean temper tantrum’s and the GOP will be like weak parents and give in.
I say let them throw selves on the floor screaming and crying until they are done and then ask them if they a ready to move on. ( anyone remember the sit in?)
Who wants to takes bets on claim of stolen elections, and election deniers?

They are already spinning that among other things, Obama and company are all yelling 'It's the end of Democracy if you don't vote Democrat' the irony that if you don't vote for them in a Democratic election that Democracy ends is certainly not lost to anyone with a functional brain cell.

Remember IF they get beat on election day (and I pray they do) expect them to go ballistic during the lame duck time and try to pass all kinds of socialist commie crap and senile joe will have the executive order machine in over drive 24/7!

Exactly where in our constitution  and founding docs do the words “Democracy” appear?
We are a representative republic, when Deamonrats use the word democracy, they are referring to their own power and party.

Ron Johnson and Kari Lake are possibilities, if they lose. Herschel Walker perhaps?

You mean to say they might act like Hillary Clinton who still complains about the election being stolen from her to this day ? Or how about every time a Republican has been elected as President when Democrats have complained about election fraud and the election not being legitimate ?

We can also look at all the other times Demcrats have denied elections here --->  https://gop.com/research/over-150-examples-of-democrats-denying-election-results-rsr/

“Broad bipartisan support” = passing a solid Democrat house with a TWO vote margin.

And 7 positive votes from republicrats like “my” representative John Porter (Mark Kirk’s “mentor”)

IE - many more Democrats voted against the bill than Republicans voted for it!!

Looks like Kari Lake is the first to come down with a case of the DT’s with a statement about not letting the fraudsters win… her Arizona count isn’t close to final yet. Seems she’s not used to underperforming.

For the record, none of the Democratic candidates who lost come even close to DT in election denial. Ms Lake has been taking notes from the master of denial.
