More good news, just keep trying to take people's guns and get them out of the dark side.

Good table etc in article, but here's a para..

In Illinois, an estimated 2,391,500 guns were sold from January through July 2022 based on FBI background check data. Adjusted for population, this is equal to about 188.1 firearm sales for every 1,000 people, the second highest gun sale rate among states.

Empty headed reporter.

Does the FBI data distinguish between background checks for sales, and the nightly background checks Illinois does on all FOID card holders?

Lots of new big-box gun stores opened up in IL too.  The days of small mom and pop shops with little inventory are long gone.  Now people are heading to the gun shop for date nights and birthday parties.

Actually the place I usually go is a small range in a town of about 1000 or so.  The owner is a younger guy but nice and easy to deal with.

Correction,  guess I meant  the small shops aren't the "only" game in town.

Weird side note. During the height of the pandemic, Illinois gun stores were significantly-better stocked than many stores in pro-gun states. Sure, the pistol counter may have had some bare spots, but it wasn't like other states where there was almost nothing that wasn't a shotgun in an odd gauge or a pistol in an undesirable caliber or brand.

You probably had a lot of people like me who didn’t have a foid before 2020, so buying wasn’t as easy since it could take a while to get that.  I remember looking at websites like buds, etc and seeing how much they were out of stock.

All this tells me is that I'm not doing my part.  Time to go shopping.

Also, dang, Kentucky!

Neither am I but being retired and having most of the guns I want, I see no need to give this state additional tax money.

Tells you people in this state aren't on board with gun control I'd say.

Or they may just be fed up with the bureaucratic nonsense here and are taking a more "active role" in protecting themselves and their families.  With the information coming out about the SAFE-T act, they may be getting better prepared in anticipation of its impending disaster.

So, it would appear to most anyone with moderate reasoning skills that if the elected Illinois politicians were to honestly represent their constituents, guns laws were would be lessened, or actually reversed to support the continuing increase in gun ownership. Unfortunately, there still aren't enough gun owners to make a difference in the elections, and the ones in power know that.

All gun owners aren't listening and voting how you would think they are.  Those purchasing  guns now are doing so since they can because of their great D leadership!  May they live long and prosper!  They may be seeing the light but that doesnt mean they will vote against the Great and All Powerful D!

Hades, there’s folks on here who claim to be “staunch 2A advocates” who are convinced D is the way to go.

Supposedly intelligent people who cannot seem to grasp that “2A advocate” and “Democrat” are mutually exclusive terms. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I was always told that owning a gun meant you had a little D................representing you in your district.

Hmmm...

Yet preferring the Great and Powerful D........in your district......would mean you probably think guns are icky??

I'm so confused.

Not me.  Those buying now.  Might be D.  So saying that we (republicans) are gaining a larger base.  Might not be true.  But I’m m sure most believe I hate guns and R too!  Lololololol
