mab22 Posted January 27, 2024 at 10:10 PM Posted January 27, 2024 at 10:10 PM (edited) Around 43:00 they start going into Bruen and “interest balancing”, and the judge on the left says there is “something like interest balancing going on” about 43:50… Forgot to mention the video here. skinnyb82 Posted January 28, 2024 at 03:00 PM Posted January 28, 2024 at 03:00 PM That would be Judge Berzon, adjunct professor of law at UC-San Francisco (leftist indoc camp), appointed by Clinton, was in majority for Peruta, also now has senior status so she's effectively retired and no longer gives an eff. This is an uphill battle to say the least. Six Justices, including Thomas, said that it the law infringes on the right and there is zero historical basis for such a law, it is unconstitutional. Simple as. No interest balancing.

Euler Posted July 26, 2024 at 03:03 AM Posted July 26, 2024 at 03:03 AM On July 19, CourtListener added support for azurewebsites, the system CA2 and CA9 use for "new" cases. As such, CourtListener now has a copy of the docket for this case. 23-2979
Euler Posted March 26, 2025 at 05:31 AM Posted March 26, 2025 at 05:31 AM (edited) On March 24, CA9 ordered the parties to file briefs on how the recent Duncan v Bonta en banc ruling (i.e., that magazines can be banned) affects this case by April 23. Edited March 26, 2025 at 05:32 AM by Euler
Euler Posted June 23, 2025 at 08:57 PM Posted June 23, 2025 at 08:57 PM On April 23, parties met their deadline. On June 20, plaintiffs filed S&W v Mexico as a supplemental authority.
Euler Posted July 4, 2026 at 07:36 AM Posted July 4, 2026 at 07:36 AM On July 1 in appellate court, the court vacated the submission of the case pending a Supreme Court decision in Viramontes. Basically the case is still open for appeal, but it's like everything else in the docket is (legally) gone like it never happened.
