UPS refusing to ship Brownell's parts (and others)

Who would give a denial? There is no proof that either UPS or Brownell's are aware of it. This seems to be a rumor spread throughout the gun community. Those are the only sites that I see if I do a search on the subject. I mentioned on page one of why I am skeptical about the letter displayed in a post above it. It is supposed to be an official business letter, but there is no addressee. An issue like this would be presented in a formal letter. A large company would receive an advance notice and a chance to change practice. There are offer points that I will not waste space repeating here.

Not a rumor, where there's smoke there's fire. UPS has become woke and time to boycott it.

Still no update on this?  If it's false, how long does it take to release a denial, especially where there is the potential for UPS, Brownell's and others to lose business???

I'm going with Occam's Razor

A casual glance at Brownells' site shows they recently dropped UPS as a shipping option

Five Democratic Senators recently sent ominous letters to United Parcel Service and 27 other carriers, blaming them for escalating violent crime rates.

"We are concerned that lax shipping security measures are contributing to the epidemic of gun violence in this country by allowing criminals to use stolen firearms to commit crimes," the letters each state.

They were signed by Senators Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Cory A. Booker (D-N.J.), Christopher S. Murphy (D-Conn.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

...

The letters were sent May 19 to UPS, FedEx, the U.S. Postal Service and trucking and rail carriers located in the United States and Canada.

...

Asked which dealers were being cancelled [by UPS], NSSF spokesman Mark Oliva said Wednesday, "I think it's everybody -- any dealer specializing in parts."

The NSSF is currently trying to determine the scope of the mass cancellations.

"It's a blanket ban," he said. "We're still looking into it."

You can read the letters at the link (to Markey's web site) included in the article (and the quote above). They're substantially all the same. The questions that the letter asks are basically the kind any business should answer with "get a subpoena." The full list of carriers targeted is:

  1. ABF
  2. BNSF
  3. Canadian National
  4. Canadian Pacific
  5. Crete
  6. CRST
  7. CSX
  8. Daseke
  9. Estes
  10. FedEx
  11. JB Hunt
  12. Knight-Swift
  13. Landstar
  14. Norfolk Southern
  15. Old Dominion
  16. Prime
  17. R+L
  18. Saia
  19. Schneider
  20. Southeastern
  21. TFI
  22. Union Pacific
  23. UPS
  24. US Xpress
  25. USPS
  26. Werner
  27. XPO
  28. Yellow

So far UPS appears to be the only one to have been spooked out of shipping firearms and parts.

IMO, this could get interesting, UPS operates as a common carrier, thus under law they should not be able to deny service (that is lawful) to anyone discriminatorily or with prejudice bias.  The red states should ban together and refuse to allow UPS to operate in their states so long as they unlawfully use discriminatory practices like this, I would say the Feds should get involved as well, but yeah we know that isn't going anywhere.

I often wonder about reports of the nature of the one in the OP. Often they seem to start in one progun site and then get repeated on many others. It seems like few sites ever bother to confirm the information. Of course, many gun types believe it because it comes from their favorite 2A site.

We all know that everyone hates us because we have guns.

Once upon a time I shipped a firearm to an FFL in California, thru FedEx, for \California transfer to a relative..  Oh well, that was the good ol' days, I guess.

I miss the "good ol' days too.

Incidentally, adding insult to injury, UPS had neither the professionalism nor courtesy of providing customers any advance notification of their firearms shipping rule change.
