Plinkermostly Posted February 27, 2023 at 01:58 PM Posted February 27, 2023 at 01:58 PM Amen! But keep the ammo dry.
GunCollector Posted January 22, 2024 at 11:36 PM Posted January 22, 2024 at 11:36 PM @THE KING Thanks for posting. I think FBD is a great podcast. I didn't know there is constitutional protections on taxation - very interesting. However, I have always considered the economic burden of owning firearms as the most effective method of firearms control. Despite these apparent and obvious unconstitutional taxes, we have had them in cook county for years. I think it is 10c per round and why I never by ammo in cook county - which is what they want. However, I thought the FEES approach is the direction the government will go, increase fees for FOID, increase NICS fee, Increase AWB administration fee, introduce firearm storage requirements, Fee to inspect storage compliance, etc. No impingement on the 2A RTK&BA, but the average joe can't afford to K&BA. I don't know why the FEDS haven't gone down this path more fully. Thanks Todd V. for another good fight!
John Q Public Posted January 23, 2024 at 06:59 PM Posted January 23, 2024 at 06:59 PM Should also apply to CCL processing as they had millions in surplus. Since it's a fee, it should only be for the amount it costs. It's well over that.
Tvandermyde Posted January 23, 2024 at 11:19 PM Posted January 23, 2024 at 11:19 PM Orals today. I think they went well as my guess is they remand saying GSL-1 is not good law. https://www.illinoiscourts.gov/courts/appellate-court/oral-argument-audio/#audioModal
cbunt32 Posted January 24, 2024 at 12:44 AM Posted January 24, 2024 at 12:44 AM Maybe it was low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised by the questions asked. Definitely sounded like they were inclined to remand.
Molly B. Posted January 24, 2024 at 12:49 AM Posted January 24, 2024 at 12:49 AM I think this went well. Thanks for posting, Todd.
GunCollector Posted January 24, 2024 at 03:18 AM Posted January 24, 2024 at 03:18 AM that was exciting. Todd's attorney was excellent. Well done and thank you.

I would expect if Todd prevails, yes there should be a mechanism put in place for you to file for the return of your money that was illegally collected... Or else you could sue Cook County in small claims court... Edited January 25, 2024 at 01:31 AM by Flynn

Flynn Posted February 21, 2024 at 03:54 AM Posted February 21, 2024 at 03:54 AM Good to hear you are back on track, but I fear if history is any indicator they will be too clever by half and re-author the law to be a "fee" forcing a likely reboot of litigation...

I could see Cook County doing that, but I would love to read the new "fee" law. Cook County is not needed at all to help facilitate the sale of firearms or ammunition. So, what fee is needed.

Not going to give them any ideas !

In one of Mark Smith's podcast, he said a plaintiff one a lawsuit on marriage certificate "taxes." The IL Supreme Court is going to eventually here this case. They have to bar Cook County from making up "fees." I doubt they will do that...

2A4Cook Posted February 22, 2024 at 07:47 PM Posted February 22, 2024 at 07:47 PM The state is run and controlled by Crook County/Chitcago. Why would it want to?

soundguy Posted February 24, 2024 at 12:35 AM Posted February 24, 2024 at 12:35 AM Home rule. Chicago has it. Cook County is the only county that has it. Home rule should have been limited to taxation. Cheers, Tim

Tvandermyde Posted September 26, 2024 at 12:27 PM Posted September 26, 2024 at 12:27 PM yes we now get to argue Bruen infront of the judge and the cook has to defend it based upon that
