I think the point is these 'security' dogs are trained to alert upon simply smelling a gun (or likely even powder residue) thus there is the real possibility that CCL holders (even possibly when not actually carrying, but recently disarmed to enter said store lawfully) will be presumed guilty of the crime of shoplifting or theft by these 'security' dogs after an alert even with no crime ever happening. What might get interesting is that if the store does not actually witness the crime of shoplifing, is the dog (private secruity) alterting to the smell of a 'gun' enough probable cause under local laws to detain the shopper at all? markthesignguy Posted June 7, 2022 at 08:07 AM Share Posted June 7, 2022 at 08:07 AM Security theater to try to get the customers back in the door. We'll see if they fall for it.... Quote Security theater is the practice of taking security measures that are intended to provide the feeling of improved security while doing little or nothing to achieve it. Jeffrey Posted June 7, 2022 at 02:07 PM Share Posted June 7, 2022 at 02:07 PM My favorite episodes of "Cops" is the K9 segments showing dogs getting a special human piece of flesh treat. This video is disappointing.

We could probably start a list of smells that are common to smash-and-grab looters.

There is a smell. But the CoC will not allow me to pass it along.
