Chuck’s Gun Shop & Pistol Range topped the list from 1996 to 2000 with more than 2,000 traces — the most prolific crime gun seller in the nation.

In 2017, it maintained its title, at least for the city of Chicago: The police recovered nearly 1,000 of the store’s guns between 2013 and 2016.

Inspections data obtained by The Trace show since 2010, the ATF has found Chuck’s — which did not respond to a request for comment — guilty only of occasional clerical errors.

Sometimes you have to wonder about how they manipulated the data.  It says "recovered" in 2013 to 2016, however it doesn't say when the guns were sold, or if the gun was recovered from the original buyer.  If those guns were sold over the prior 20 year period (not sure how long Chuck's has been in business) then that's a different statistic, and then you have to factor in if that gun was legally sold by the original purchaser and now whoever possesses the gun had it confiscated by the police (and we would need a breakdown of why the police "recovered" the gun).

Straw purchases and thefts over 20 years.  Gee, I wonder why they never seem to prosecute the straw purchasers?

Because that would actually stop crimes done by thugs, meaning less need for police, and less need for government and that means less reason to raise taxes to get more money for cronies.
