Hello,

I just got confirmation from aeammo.com that they will now ship ammo to residences in Chicago, IL (Cook County). Back in June or July of this year they told me that they did not ship ammo to residences in Chicago, IL (Cook County) & to check back with them from time to time because this policy might change. So, I contacted them again two weeks ago & they replied a few days ago informing me that they had changed their policy.

Kindest regards.

I was at the range last week and two people said they were getting ammo delivered from Midway USA (outside of Cook County).  I was kind of surprised but I have not tried with them yet.

The least expensive ammo that I usually find are through https://www.freedommunitions.com/ (mostly self labeled new and reloads) or https://www.deleonrxgunsandammo.com/ (lots of name brands to choose from).

Freedom Munitions currently offering .357 Mag for $22.88/ 50 rounds ($0.46/ round) looks pretty good to me.

Midway and Freedom Munitions are both in the "lost causes" category when it comes to shipping to Chicago.

First post here.  I just joined to thank you guys for running this post about shipping ammo to Chicago.   I'm an small ammo maker in Tombstone AZ, and I had a customer email me asking if I'd ship to Chicago.    Thanks to your forum and this long running post, I was able to accommodate him.

If anybody is interested, you can add me to your list of those who will ship to Chicago.  I primarily make new production classic revolver cartridges but also do a few other things.

Some updates

  • I made a No Longer Exists category for archival purposes, so we can always have a reference.
  • Carolina Munitions's website can no longer be found, therefore I've put them in the No Longer Exists category.
  • I have recontacted the following "Lost Cause" vendors to provide them on updates on legislation (even though it was changed 10 years ago). I've also requested a review on their store policy. Who knows, maybe it will change. You never know unless you ask.

    • AIM Surplus
    • Alamo Ammo
    • Ammo Freedom
    • Ammo.com
    • AmmoFast (Powder Valley)

Great list and I'd like to add two names if I may:

www.kygunco.com I ordered a pistol that was sent to ffl and a mag ammo (sent to NS of Chicago. Ammo and mag arrived way before the gun even shipped from them. Free shipping/no tax on pistol and paid shipping/no tax on ammo and mag.

www.rivertownmunitions.com They've shipped multiple cases to me promptly. 1st one needed an extra day as they didn't have my FOID pic. All the other times it's gotten here 3 days after ordering except when I ordered over July 4th holiday. Free shipping on cases and no tax added.

Also had ordered from www.skogensgunsupply.com with no issues but can't remember about tax or shipping cost.

Oh and www.brownells.com came thru with ammo and glock parts. Can't remember about taxes, I think I had free shipping due to size of order.

All these vendors sold and shipped to me fairly quick and all of them needed my FOID and brownell's wanted both my DL and FOID.

Thank you @HeyYou.

I have called them directly to confirm and updated the list.

KYGUNCO and Rivertown Munitions will ship.

https://rivertownmunitions.com

Skogen's Outdoors specifically states, and has also confirmed by phone, that they do not ship or sell to City of Chicago mailing addresses.

Hello,

Take De Leon Pharmacy & Sporting Goods off of the list.

I just spoke to their sales associate Jackson today (03/02/2026) & he informed me that they put Chicago, IL (Cook County) on their banned list.

I told him that I had purchased from them before, so when did this come into action?

He said it has been on the banned list for probably one year.

Top of the world living in this illustrious blue state of Illinois.

Best regards.

@Maladina Thank you for the update. I have updated the list and added De Leon Pharmacy and Sporting Goods to the Lost Causes.

I also checked their website's FAQ [https://deleonrxgunsandammo.com/frequently-asked-questions] where it states

"Illinois: FOID card and valid unexpired ID required for ammunition purchases. Address on one form of ID must match your shipping address. Due to local laws we cannot ship to the following cities; Chicago, Chicago Heights, Cicero, Evanston, Norridge, Schaumburg and Thornton."

If anyone has contact with ammunition vendors that refuses to ship to Chicago because of “local laws or store policy,” what reason did they give? Did they cite any specific statutes or ordinances?

I added rebuttals to the common arguments in the first post of this thread.

Did you know that Palmetto won't even sell a duffel bag or hat to someone from Chicago? ALL sales of ALL merchandise is banned. My Hoosier brother constantly find it amusing how untrustworthy Illinois captives must be. As he admires his new Walther WMP with its threaded barrel that he bought without any waiting period and while enjoying his constitutional carry of a SD handgun.

I ordered a picatinny rail from Palmetto for a bolt action bench rest 22 build. Would not sell it to me because it could be used on a AR 15.
Obviously I’m done with them going forward.

Since I am a Chicago resident (yes it sucks) Palmetto won't even sell me a T-shirt or a hat. NO sales of ANYTHING to this dump. Their $$ loss, I buy all my guns from either RangeUSA or 2nd Amendment Sports.
