WaltherWalter Posted July 27, 2022 at 05:01 PM Share Posted July 27, 2022 at 05:01 PM I have ordered 9mm Luger from https://www.patriotsammo-arms.com/ in the past without issue, just got an order from them in June. Placed an order for some 5.56 and they said they can't ship to a private residence in Chicago. Must ship to a FFL. I told them to pound sand and they actually suspended my account. I can't log in to their website anymore.

They will ship to Chicago (zip code 606##) only when the item shows "Available In-Store". If it shows "Available Online" only, then it ships from their partner vendors, which they may have restricted shipping policies. ChangeLogg Posted November 29, 2022 at 08:33 PM Author Share Posted November 29, 2022 at 08:33 PM (edited) I've also contacted Lucky Gunner to discuss their current conditions for shipping ammunition to Chicago. https://www.luckygunner.com/ammo-regulations-for-shipping-to-chicago I sent them this email: Quote In reference to your shipping policy to Chicago [https://www.luckygunner.com/ammo-regulations-for-shipping-to-chicago], there were some amendments to legislation. Current legislation for this statute 430 ILCS 65/13.1 [https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/documents/043000650K13.1.htm], with the new Public Act 102-538 [https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/fulltext.asp?Name=102-0538] is effective August 20, 2021. This references the possession and transportation of ammunition by a holder of a valid FOID card. This is a requirement by ammunition sellers that buyers will have to provide proof of a valid FOID. In the past, Chicago Ordinance O2013-6015 [https://chicago.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=1460080&GUID=DC182460-94AC-4644-BE93-344059E10567] references Chicago Municipal Code 8-20-100(b) which read “No ammunition may be sold or otherwise transferred within the city, except through a licensed weapons dealer, or as otherwise allowed by this code.” Currently, the Chicago Municipal Code 8-20-100 has been amended and no longer contains this language [https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/chicago/latest/chicago_il/0-0-0-2644532]. This was amended by Chicago Ordinance O2014-4271 on June 25, 2014, it removed the restriction to purchase ammunition within Municipal Code 8-20-100. [https://chicago.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=1804593&GUID=F4AA3050-1B5E-4FAA-97EA-6F58C8CB51C6]. I would very much like to hear your thoughts on this with hopes that shipping ammunition will be allowed to City of Chicago addresses (zip code 606##). Below is their reply: Quote Thanks for reaching out, Our legal team does revisit the legalities frequently, so if any changes are made, we will be sure to list them on our site. We will look into these matters soon, but until then, we are still unable to remove the restrictions. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. If so, he will give you boilerplate responses like the one you got through Luckygunner and you'll get nowhere but frustrated. I asked if he could pass me along to whoever actually owns Luckygunner or to their "legal team" he referred to and he absolutely refused. Part of me thinks this guy just owns and operates multiple websites and uses a drop shipper and the "owners" and "legal team" he refers to are nonexistent. Don't hold your breath for them to reevaluate their rules, either. He said the same thing in 2015.

alco0203 Posted February 14, 2023 at 01:11 AM Share Posted February 14, 2023 at 01:11 AM Would like to add Defender Ammunition to the list, who appears to be an ammunition manufacturer. They initially canceled my order because my FOID and my DL did not match. I sent an email and cited the statute that says you can ship to either address on the FOID. I also referenced that the Chicago municipal code no longer prohibits ammunition sales, and that most sellers who won't ship here are using outdated and/or incorrect information. I didn't get a response at first, but I called and briefly chatted with someone there who was very nice and promised to look into it and refer it to their legal team. Happy to provide a screenshot of the exchange if that's necessary for this thread. A few days later I get a friendly email thanking me for the information and noting a change in shipping policy. Top notch customer service here! P.S. At the time of posting, I ordered .357 magnum at approximately 55cpr and 44mag at approximately 75cpr, factoring in shipping. These are some of the lowest prices on this calibers that I know of. I can't vouch for the quality of the ammunition but the website reviews are good and they are constantly sold out.
