already public on govinfo, the January 31, 2022 Federal Register details ATF’s plans to finalize its rulemaking and regulations related to the definitions of firearm, firearm frame/receiver, complete weapon, complete silencer, and more, plus will publish its final factors for determining whether a specific pistol equipped with a pistol stabilizing brace is, in fact, a pistol or if it’s a short barreled rifle.

From the summary in the Federal Register... So sometime in June, ATF’s new definitions and regulations will go into effect for the receivers, silencers, and other categories, and sometime in August the rules will go into effect for pistol stabilizing brace-equipped firearms.  . . .

Is this similar to making up the rules as we play the game?

Making up the rules as we play and shifting goal posts is how the game has been played for as long as I've been paying attention.

Maybe I haven't paid enough attention then.  I don't recall ATF making announcements and changes like this before.

Bump stocks?

Has anyone been prosecuted, federally, for having a bump stock?

Turning what have been legal pistols for years suddenly into "short barreled rifles" and trying to make ex post facto felons out of law abiding citizens.  Of course, even if you pay the $200 extortion fee, in Crook County, you lose your preemption, they know you have it, and Taxwinkle and Snart will send the Gestapo to kick your door down.  Scum.  Plan the boat trips!
