Can you go online and use the portal to see if you have a valid FOID in addition to your non-res CCL. This might be one of those “unintended consequences” — non-res FOIDs for non-res CCLs…. I think they are confused. On the portal, it says my FOID application is "Cancelled" and "Your card is no longer active by virtue of a strictly administrative action." It shows my CCL as "Active" and the five-year expiration date. I guess it will be interesting when I get back to Illinois ... My new card clearly says F.. O,, I.. D.. at the top. Well, at least now I wont have any problem buying ammo in IL.
John Q Public Posted February 10, 2023 at 09:44 PM Posted February 10, 2023 at 09:44 PM It's another problem with having one card. Since they don't have a strictly CCL card it looks like you have a FOID card too, but if they ran it as a FOID it would fail the background check.
ragsbo Posted February 10, 2023 at 10:35 PM Posted February 10, 2023 at 10:35 PM Still think that the "one card" deal is trying to get the foid so muddled up with ccl that when the foid gets declared illegal/unconstitutional the state can claim they can't get rid of it with out getting rid of the ccl. That is how evil these folks are

Only for residents. Apparently no thought was spent on what to do with cards for non-residents. If the requirement to have a FOID is ruled unconstitutional, it just means that CCLs would no longer require a FOID for residents, too.

I trust you are correct.
John Q Public Posted February 11, 2023 at 05:18 PM Posted February 11, 2023 at 05:18 PM It is indeed correct SB, because only Illinois residents can get a FOID card.
JTHunter Posted February 12, 2023 at 02:36 AM Posted February 12, 2023 at 02:36 AM Bad as the FOID is, it is STILL less expensive than the CCP. NOW, if they drop the FOID so we can buy guns and ammo without the FOID (not that I believe that will ever happen), that would be a most beneficial outcome.
John Q Public Posted February 12, 2023 at 07:42 PM Posted February 12, 2023 at 07:42 PM The FOID will go away, it can't stand, the problem is getting the right case before the SC, during it's current judicial lineup.
