I don't understand all these extensions being granted! The court gives a date to get your stuff in by and if you don't tough!! This is just their way of delaying the case, costing people more money for lawyers and while still having the law enforced. IF the court would issue a stay so the law can NOT be enforced while the court case is being put through the system, then the state would have some incentive to get the work done on time. A right delayed is still a right denied.
davel501 Posted August 22, 2025 at 02:49 AM Posted August 22, 2025 at 02:49 AM Wasn't it Duncan asking for the extensions so far? If I'm reading it right, this is Bonta's first.
Tvandermyde Posted August 22, 2025 at 03:07 AM Posted August 22, 2025 at 03:07 AM they were so they could get amici lined up
Euler Posted August 22, 2025 at 03:25 AM Author Posted August 22, 2025 at 03:25 AM On August 21, the Court granted the extension to file a response to October 20. At the US Supreme Court, Duncan asked for two extensions to file the petition. Now it's the state's turn to respond. It's a little bizarre how quickly it asked for an extension. Without the extension, it still wouldn't have been due until September 18.
Dumak_from_arfcom Posted September 25, 2025 at 06:27 PM Posted September 25, 2025 at 06:27 PM This is worth the read. The Washington Gun Law guy just made a video on it. https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/25/25-198/374966/20250918093110829_25-198_Brief of Amicus.pdf
