BigJim Posted April 9, 2019 at 03:27 PM Share Posted April 9, 2019 at 03:27 PM My FCCL was due to renew Feb. 28th so I submitted the renewal back on Feb. 14th and have been waiting patiently for it to be processed. My FOID will expire Oct. 1st this year. With our overlords looking to screw up FOID ($50 for 5 years plus 90 days processing time, plus apply in person) I've been thinking if this crap becomes law how far in advance can I renew my FOID so I don't have to be subject to these idiotic new rules? To our lobbyists: I hope you are working on an exception to the apply in person so handicap people for whom standing in long lines is an issue will have an alternative way to apply. That may have been in original or different proposal. Im also not seeing the 90 day FOID thing. edit:the first 2 things on their preliminary document a few weeks ago was to increase card cost to $50. The second was to reduce card length from 10 to 5 years. That $ increase doesnt look like it made it into bill...yet Edited April 9, 2019 at 05:39 PM by InterestedBystander

barryware Posted April 9, 2019 at 05:41 PM Share Posted April 9, 2019 at 05:41 PM Yikes.. I renewed my FOID May 2018 for 10 bucks (+ a 1.00 convenience fee) and it is good for 10 years. Issued 05/xx/2018, expires 05/xx/2028.. If memory serves.. Based on financial records.. I actually applied / renewed on 04/17/18 and FOID in hand less than 30 days later. BigJim Posted April 11, 2019 at 05:52 PM Author Share Posted April 11, 2019 at 05:52 PM Doesn't anyone know how far in advance of the expiration date you can apply to renew your FOID?
InterestedBystander Posted April 11, 2019 at 05:57 PM Share Posted April 11, 2019 at 05:57 PM I dont think you can renew until the renew button goes active on the ISP portal. My guess that is something like 30 to 60 days.

My guess that is something like 30 to 60 days. You are correct, I think it's at least 60 days. I just helped a student renew and his FOID was just under the 60 day mark by about 3 days.
