Nanook Posted April 3, 2019 at 02:14 PM Share Posted April 3, 2019 at 02:14 PM Did she give up her other job to run for mayor? If she didn't, the county still lost. She did rake in some tasty campaign money, though.

RandyP Posted April 4, 2019 at 12:55 PM Share Posted April 4, 2019 at 12:55 PM The first election was a solid statement 'against' the old school way of doing business, or Daley would have been in the run-off. Preckwinkle's stunning defeat simply amplifies more of that sentiment - IMHO.

Preckwinkle's stunning defeat simply amplifies more of that sentiment - IMHO. None of the candidates are ever aligned to our views, the best you can hope for is a balance of contrarians so they get nothing done. It's the old guard local machine which gets a cut of what they collect vs a new global machine that collects just for the corporations with some minor campaign contributions. Organized crime VS useful idiots. Business owners pretending to be politicians VS people that should've been left at dead end government administration jobs. People that are corrupt and smart enough to move money into their bank accounts without getting caught VS the government administrators too stupid to catch them so they got promoted instead. Nothing will get better by the new machine having a monopoly on power. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...
