10/22 legal or not in Cook County?

I'm in a non-home rule town in cook county. I'm reading conflicting responses on the internet but I take it they are banned. If I have to I would keep it in storage in DuPage but is it required by law that the shop I purchase it from need "proof" of that I store it somewhere else since my FOID is a cook county address? Is the purchase flagged in anyway? Thanks

The shop you purchase from needs nothing by law afaik but some, by their own policy, may not sell to you an item on the list if your address is in Cook regardless of where you plan to keep it.

 

Are you positive a 10-22 is on the list? I dont think it is called out by name.

How would you go about asking a shop their policy? I would think they would think it is some sort of "trap" to bring it up. Kind of like just bringing it up will make them not want anything to do with you. I will be buying online and having it sent to a local shop, so if they do not sell to me then I might be in the hole for shipping back and some other fees they want to make up

 

So maybe a Ruger 10/22 takedown with flash suppressor is legal in Cook County?

Flash suppressors and compensators are not the same. Some municipalities ban flash suppressors. Some ban compensators. Most 10/22s have neither.

 

The compensator rule applies to you, because the 10/22 does not have an internal magazine.

 

So don't unscrew the flash suppressor and attach a compensator. If you ever shoot in a line, the people next to you will appreciate it, too.

At this point who really cares, just dont get caught. Its all unconstitutional. These laws are designed to screw people like us over, while the gang bangers on the south side get off with time served for possessing a handgun and also discharging it in public (all without a FOID card)

In reality the stock extending to cover the barrel isn't a shroud. But how it is worded in the law, can be interpreted as such. I have seen other AWB (California's for one) that and language " not including the stock".

How do you come to that conclusion?
