Dx54r Posted September 9, 2017 at 03:52 PM Share Posted September 9, 2017 at 03:52 PM I have a 9mm carbine with an exposed barrel that I want to have threaded for a fake can (or real can if legislation ever passes! ) or a muzzle device. Has anyone ever threaded a barrel on a firearm or had it done? I have a few questions that I'd like to know that, and I trust first hand discussion and advice more than Google on this topic. 1) Does getting a barrel threaded reduce the length of the barrel at all? 2) Are there any recommended shops or gunsmiths in Dupage county that offer this service? 3) How much does this generally cost to have done? adjc Posted September 9, 2017 at 04:32 PM Share Posted September 9, 2017 at 04:32 PM most gunsmiths can do it, if you do it have them put a knurled nut on it for thread protection. I had my heavy barreled match Colt AR-15 threaded for a flash hider. I think it cost me $20.
blck10th Posted September 9, 2017 at 10:29 PM Share Posted September 9, 2017 at 10:29 PM It shouldn't shorten anything because they don't need to face it off to thread it. If they did have to face it off to clean it for some reason. .005-.010" would clean it up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
