Senate Votes to Let Mentally Ill People buy Guns

The article mentioned that the ACLU was opposed to Obama's regs, which is more than most of the reporting on this issue did. It didn't give a particularly nuanced discussion of the issues involved, but for a short article it's not as awful as most. Also, it does provide links to more detailed information.

Who knew that bunch of thieves at AOL were still around?

They had a good racket there for a while, telling people that they had to go through AOL as a home page to get to the internet (for a price, charged by the minute).....like I said, thieves.

Looks like they're a bunch of anti-rights liars, too. What a load of horse hockey.....

I posted these headlines to FB right after this became news.

Dont' think the Media Is Biased? Fake News Headlines meant to spread fear, anger and hate. Driving a wedge deeper and deeper between the party followers

Bloomberg - Vote to Repeal Social Security Gun Ban Allows ‘Guns for the Mentally Incompetent’

New York Magazine - House GOP Blocks Measure to Prevent Mentally Ill People From Getting Firearms

NPR (Tax funded National Public Radio) - House Votes To Overturn Obama Rule Restricting Gun Sales To The Severely Mentally Ill

UPI - House votes to roll back rule to prevent mentally ill from buying guns

CNN - House rolls back rule restricting gun sales to severely mentally ill

No, Congress did not just vote to allow the mentally ill to buy guns

The title of this thread makes me laugh. That's not what Congress did and any honest journalist knows that. If they don't, then they shouldn't be reporting on subjects like this as they are ignorant in regard to the law.

If you can't manage your own financial affairs, how can we expect that you're going to be a responsible steward of a dangerous, lethal firearm?

Wait...now millennials should be considered prohibited persons? :D

No, politicians should be prohibited persons. They can't manage ANY financial affairs as evidenced by the government debts at all levels.

Yes, no kidding. People who pay $1000 for a toilet seat have no business questioning other people's handling of financial matters.

Lying media, translation: obama's order to disarm old veterans will not stand.

Bad news:

That was separate, came sooner, and still stands, AFAIK.

This first came to light for veterans in 2012, in force in 2013:

http://www.benefits.va.gov/fiduciary/beneficiary.asp

The House Joint Resolution 40 in question does not mention the plight of the veterans, or the actions of the VA.
