Teufel Hunden Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:57 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:57 PM I'm in Florida visiting my parents. I stopped by one of the 8 regional Dept of Agriculture offices and applied for a non-resident FL permit. I scheduled an appt online and arrived 30 minutes early. The entire processes including prints, picture and payment took 15 minutes. I walked it 15 minutes before my appointment was scheduled to start. Every person I encountered was super helpful and friendly. It could not have been a mute pleasant process. I was also informed that because I'm a veteran (used DD214 for proof of proficiency) they will expedite the issue of license. Instead of it potentially taking up to 90 days (currently running 50-55) I was told that I should expect it within the next 10 to 30 days. It was also 2/3 the cost of my IL license and is issued for a period of 7 years.
Trevis Posted November 8, 2016 at 09:00 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 09:00 PM Florida is better than Illinois? In other news, water is wet, the sky is high, the sun is hot. lol.

3ddiver Posted November 8, 2016 at 09:48 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 09:48 PM I would recommend you just stay there.
RacerDave6 Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:00 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:00 PM I did mine the same way, and had the same experience as you.I had my card in 27 days.
Kaeghl Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:50 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:50 PM I still have the Florida license from a few years ago, with the Charles Bronson signature. I keep it in the desk drawer, and smile when I drag it out at family get to gathers. Sad part is, the young 20-somethings say, "Who's Charles Bronson?" Gads
Teufel Hunden Posted November 10, 2016 at 04:54 PM Author Posted November 10, 2016 at 04:54 PM Checked status today, it was approved yesterday. It took them one day to approve my license.
Rangerdeepv Posted November 11, 2016 at 12:02 PM Posted November 11, 2016 at 12:02 PM Now that is how a well ran state runs!
RoyB Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:00 AM Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:00 AM I applied by mail about 3 weeks ago. Been checking daily and it popped up about 2 weeks ago that they have it and are reviewing it. If it takes 50 days I should hopefully have it by the time I go to visit.
Teufel Hunden Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:11 AM Author Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:11 AM Conclusion to the story... I received my Florida license today. It took six days to receive my license, including mailing time. That is crazy fast and efficient. (Corrected number of days, realized I applied last Tuesday, not Monday)
kwc Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:16 AM Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:16 AM $Aren't they worried about all the mayhem you are going to create in their state as a licensed nonresident concealed carrier?$ Illinois sure frets over things like that... hence their refusal to issue to residents of most other states. Could their fears possibly, just possibly, be misguided? Congrats on getting your Florida license. I got mine several years ago and that has been very helpful in many of the places I visit.
Bubbacs Posted November 15, 2016 at 04:20 PM Posted November 15, 2016 at 04:20 PM I still have the Florida license from a few years ago, with the Charles Bronson signature. GadsSince the license has been received, great news and Florida is doing it right. But to you Sir Kaeghl, I would like to hear more about this Charles Bronson signature.THE Charles Bronson? Almost worth asking for a picture, PM of course.......And was this a normal process they had back a few years.I can imagine the stories being told att those family gatherings!
RoyB Posted November 16, 2016 at 01:09 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 01:09 PM I am still waiting for mine I mailed it out around the 19th of last month.
nulloverride Posted June 22, 2017 at 07:37 PM Posted June 22, 2017 at 07:37 PM Well this is promising. I am planning a trip to FL in less than a month and am interested in getting my CCL for them. Sounds like I might actually be able to get it before I get down there.

Sounds like I might actually be able to get it before I get down there. I did an in person application while on a business trip to Orlando. From the day of application to holding the CCL in my hand (delivered to my home in IL) took 18 days. Awesome service. The in person application process took about 20min start to finish with very helpful staff to help you every step of the way.

Thought about photo copies of my ID and IL CCL but in the end decided against it. Who knows... that might have made the whole thing quicker. But I did pick the "expedited" processing.
