Loser Russ Feingold was on the campaign trail in Wisconsin trying to win his Senate seat back when he was recorded at a fundraiser saying that Hillary Clinton might issue an executive order on guns.

 

If theres still Republican control in Congress, and if Hillary is elected, is there anything she can do to uhh, an attendee asks Feingold in the video.

 

Well, there might be an executive order, Feingold responds.

 

Oh, so she can, I know that Bara the questioner responds. Feingold then talks of President Obamas executive orders throughout his two terms.

 

He did some executive orders with the aspects of waiting periods. But what we all need is the Senate, have her there, and then put pressure on the House. And we might win the House, Feingold says.

There's a whole lot of "what?" in that article...

 

Executive order on waiting periods? Huh? There hasn't been a federal waiting period (aside from NFA) since the Brady Bill got tossed.

 

Most of what Obama did with respect to firearms that people refer to as "executive orders" were actually executive actions, which had no teeth whatsoever and didn't say anything the law didn't already actually say.

 

Feingold has not been in office since 2011. It sounds to me like maybe he has been getting most of his news about what has happened in the Executive and Legislative branches from mainstream news outlets and blogs, rather than going to the actual source.

 

Once again I say...if gun control could happen by executive order, why hasn't Obama done that over the last 7.5 years? Certainly over the last 3.5?

 

Hillary getting into office would (will?) be a disaster. But she is limited as to what she can do on her own. She still needs both houses of Congress, and probably the SCOTUS. SCOTUS she would get, but even if she has a Democratic majority in Congress, not all of those Democrats come from places where it is politically expedient for them to get behind sweeping gun control. Executive Orders need to be funded by congress, and the POTUS cannot make up laws by Executive Order. To quote the old lady in the insurance commercial, "That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works..."

What's with all the "get ready for Hillary" threads? To my knowledge, the election hasn't happened yet.

Better to prepare for the worst and be pleasantly surprised than prepare for the best and be caught off guard?

IF she's elected - that's I-F...

Whatever she does - whatever is handed out - whatever Congress or SCOTUS does... only has "teeth" if local LE enforces it.

Kinda like the pot laws...

I'm pretty sure that has been gone over many times in the last few years. No pres is pushing through any EO on their own with a flourish of the pen. Never happened, ever.

 

Go read up on what a EO is and what it takes to implement one.

what's next to do EITHER WAY. So we don't have to stand around shell shocked.

 

I personally have been thinking that way for quite a while now - hope for the best and plan for the worst.

 

and it's NOT just Presidential, it includes the Illinois General Assembly as well.

Just make sure people vote republican for the Senate and House races. HRC is likely to win based on current polls, the Republican Party bailing on Trump and Trump imploding. It is essential that the House and Senate can block craziness and that a Republican Senate can at least push for more moderate Supreme Court nominations. The next president is likely to have two appointments.

If she "wins" the election, she may be able to appoint the 5th progressive on the SCOTUS (if the Senate doesn't vote on Barry Soetoro's nominee). It is the cases the SCOTUS hears and rules will be the greatest threat to our rights. They could really do major damage to the US, from open borders with unfettered immigration (this is what George Soros wants), to overturning current rulings on the 2nd, 1st, and 4th Amendments.

 

Her win would be devastating to the country. It would be Illinois on a national scale!

Only COWARDS and Sissy's will be unarmed . And there are Many Many here on this forum that will acquiesce long before a line is drawn and a lot of them are Anti Trumpers

As I see it gun control is just a liberal minded pipe dream..With 360 million plus guns ,some registered some not in public hands amd million of gun owners,it no more that a item that the liberals put on there wish list for show...It would take a hundred years for the government to find these guns and they have no way to do it...So it will stay the same, anyone that wants a gun can get one, legal or not..Most of the crooks dont read gun laws ,as a lot of them cant read..So I dont really get up in the air about so called gun control...Try as they might ,its just not in the cards,so I dont think about it, and just carrie every day and fell sorry for those that dont...I guess Im just not politicial correct and thats the way I like it..I still wear my rebel flag hat or anything else I want to, and could care less who does or does not like it...Yes I will still fly the flag I want,carry the gun I want and even have a pig roast if I want to....I GUESS THATS JUST ME....

IMHO, the progressives believe they can win the long game over one or two generations. They hope that by chipping away and erecting barriers inch-by-inch, PLUS creating a social stigma against what they detest, gun ownership will fall from favor. Erosion of gun ownership over time is just part of their master plan which starts with mind control, not confiscation.

 

Witness that social engineers and left-wing think tanks are already planning a statist society that:

- Eliminates fossil fuel vehicles

- Castigates smoking (except for weed and hookah)

- Deems single family homes wasteful versus multi-unit "efficiency" dwellings

- Promotes construction of new condo/apartment buildings that EXCLUDE parking on site (Evanston is looking at this)

- Elimination of the mortgage interest deduction and tax-free status for churches

- Whatever else promotes "social good" over individual rights and liberties

- Suppresses U.S. sovereignty and submits to the will of the U.N. (small arms treaty, etc.)

Have had the "cold dead hands" conversation a number of times before. Unless you are able to live off the grid I'm thinking most won't have much of a choice regarding the voluntary turn in of anything with a paper trail.

Two things:

1. The government already has the ability to freeze your assets and bank accounts so do you want to have the ability to buy groceries or anything else for that matter? For anyone on SSI or other automatic deposit it could end in a heart beat.

2. And then there's health care. Do you or your loved ones want to maintain the ability to get health care? Single payer is a coming as this whole fiasco that was bound to fail was set up to accomplish exactly that. Even without single payer they can prevent treatment. Have any ongoing health issues like diabetes? You got the picture?


So I guess if you can do without those two things (money and healthcare) you might get to keep you weapons. Because they won't be sending out people to commit suicide by trying to collect them. The individual might be willing to play the cold dead hands routine, but not by putting his family in harms way.




Well I have to go now and check my supply of tin foil as I have some hats to make.

Better HOPE that the poles are BS to try and prevent turnout. I'd say the election has possible serious consequences.
