Got my CCL and a new FOID - with the wrong address on the cards!

The good news is that it only took a month with prints. The bad news is that the new FOID and my CCL both have the wrong address on them...not even the same address that is on my Illinois DL (but they used the picture...) and my old FOID card. The biggest problem is that the "mis spelled" modified address they put on my new cards actually exists a few blocks away and the folks that live are *are not* the type I'd like getting official correspondence about my CCL.

 

Needless to say I'm a little upset. Any suggestions? I'll call the Illinois phone number on Monday but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has had this kind of problem and how they resolved it. I'm not paying to have a new address put on the the cards or to have them reissued. What a pain....

Soooo...I just tried to call (yeah, I know...it's Sunday...) but apparently they can't take the call due to an "unusually high number of calls already in the queue..." and it hangs up on me. No surprise. So, I tried to send an inquiry thru the Illinois CCL site to the CCL Administrator. In that form one needs to give their CCL license number - which on my FOID and CCL the license number is 10 digits. The form flags this as an error with a message that license numbers must be 13 digits. So, I had to add 3 zeros to the end to submit the form.

 

Any of you all have 13 digit CCL/FOID numbers on yer cards?

 

I got a *Baaaaaddddd* feeling about this....anybody ever drive to Springfield and try to resolve issues in person? Only about a 2 hour drive if I thought I could actually speak to someone when i got there. I *really* don't want the folks at the wrong address to get wind of this. Not good....

They mailed you the cards to the correct address, as your posts states you received them!

But they placed cards in the envelope which are listed as a completely different address!

Which makes absolutely no sense at all.

I'm going to roll the dice and say that once contacted they will cancel the cards, and start the whole process over as new!

I know that's not what anyone would expect, but I'm placing my dime on them placing you as submitted again and then the review process just like a requested change of address.........good luck getting them to admit to being wrong and not trying to charge you for the changes!

Sometimes your mailman goes only by the last name cause he is familiar with the name and looks no farther as to the address, if the numbers were just "down the street" they would be in his sorting area and it went into his stack... just my 2 cents... but OP has not said if envelope had correct address

The envelope carried the same wrong address as the license and FOID...it was a stroke of luck that the postal carrier delivered to the named addressee instead of to the address. We have had this problem before. Where I live there are multiple avenues....like 25th avenue, 25th avenue A, 25th avenue B etc. So, an address might be 1776 - 25th Avenue B Yourtown IL

 

For some reason folks don't "get it" and decide that I don't know where I live and decide that 25th Avenue B *actually* means 25th Avenue Apartment B....which in this case there actually *is* a 1776 - 25th Ave. APT#B and a registered sex offender lives there. Just the kind of person you want to make sure knows you have guns ($) in the house 'cause he got yer Illinois CCL delivered (or some official Illinois State mail...) to him by accident.

 

Luckily the postal carrier has seen this problem before and delivered the license to *me* and not the address. Future correspondence might end up in the hands of a registered offender *or* someone might eventually figure out that the address on my CCL is actually the address of a registered sex offender and then the S might HTF. Imagine (Gaad forbid...) in the event I have to smoke some BG with my concealed carry piece and then the people deciding whether the shoot is legitimate or not find that the address as listed on my CCL is actually the street address of a registered sex offender.

 

I gotta get this fixed. Dammit. My Illinois DL is correct as is my former FOID...the CCL application was correct. We need to find the dork that decided to "ammend" my address and fire that jackass. Calm...calm. Seriously. Can't we just pay attention for 10 minutes? I love the State of Illinois and have lived here all my life but the CCL deal is ridiculous. I paid *hundreds* of dollars for training and license fees and ammunition for proficiency testing (and practice!) and finger prints and then the State F's up my address via editing that didn't need to be done.

 

Dammit. I know where I live, Jackass. Been here and paid taxes on it for over 30 years. Get a clue....

I see the ISP has spent the $20 million windfall we have given them very wisely. I see brand new squad cars all over the place but the rights of the people who pay the freight are still being trampled. Let's see what we have here....review board a year behind on objections and basically being paid good taxpayer money for a part-time job they show up at when they damned-well feel like it..check,....ISP not being bothered to do background checks for new FOID applicants but revoking the new card 2 weeks after they issued it, check, this list could get very long.....Violating the law on permit issue times and sending multiple "we need another 30 days" BS letters, check. Sending out a CCW permit with the wrong address, check. Now that CCW is old news the state is back to foot-dragging and political BS games. When the whole country was watching the last idiots in the country be force-fed the FCCA, they were so quick to trot out all the new cards and make it look like they were being good boys and girls but now that the light has faded, the BS is back. I wonder what, if anything, their defense is to all this crap?

Absolutely. I saved it all so that when they want $80 to fix the address I have some recourse. Truthfully I'm hoping for the best *but* I have few illusions. I hope this can be fixed but if it takes greasing the State another $80 to make my CCL address match my home address I'll have to pony up. I'm not carrying a concealed weapon under a license I paid and qualified for with a false address belonging to a registered felon.

 

This whole F up offends me on a level I can't possibly transmit. Crossed fingers that my complaint/inquiry bears fruit.

First the snafu of the ISP with the address correction on their end (and getting it wrong).

The whole address being off and THEN there's is a registered sexy offender on the other end....fade out Hollywood style lights!

And don't forget the heroic postal worker, ever hear those two words together before?

He ignores the who process and delivers based upon the name, wish my carrier would do this.

I get the neighbors bills and past due notices all the time, you should see their looks when I hand them the collections notices.......

Good news initially...I'm told that the registered sex offender that previously lived at the address has moved on some time ago. No idea about who actually lives there now. So, that's a good thing.

When I applied for CCL, it wouldn't save my home town. Finally got it to save and then a few days later, my address in my profile changed to a town close by. I tried to correct it and ISP wanted $5 for a FOID address change to correct my existing address to what was already on it. I paid the fee since my FOID was listed as invalid. I called ISP and sat on hold for over an hour. Spoke with a very helpful person and they corrected the issue and refunded my money. Hopefully you'll talk with the same young woman.

Yer giving me hope that this can be resolved...thank you. I plan on getting in touch with the ISP via phone yet today and I'll certainly let everyone here at IllinoisCarry know how this comes out.

 

How many of us have 13 digit CCL numbers? Mine is only 10 digits long....

While I was waiting on hold for the ISP an Email reply came in from the Illinois CCL site administrator on this issue - The ISP tells me that they will reprint cards with the correct address on them to replace the cards sent with the wrong information. No charge but no time frame either. So, I guess I'll chill for a couple weeks and see if new/replacement cards arrive and then ping them again if needed now that I have a return Email address.

 

For the record, that was a response on an inquiry I sent to the CCL Site Admin less than 24 hours ago. So I continue to be impressed with this whole procedure and program time frame. This whole deal had been pretty fast.....expensive and convoluted but fast and furious.

 

I'll let everyone know when it gets resolved. But right now it's all good and looking like resolution will be a coming without additional fees, fingers crossed.

Don't be surprised if in the meantime, your current (incorrectly addressed) FOID becomes invalid.

Nope, but you can always check the status of your FOID on the ISP's person to person transfer page.

Update: I have my correctly addressed CCL in hand today. I'm mightily impressed....I was a little confused that I did not get an updated FOID until I looked again at the website and saw separate CCL and FOID Administrators. So, I dashed off a message to the FOID Admin. Kind of a silly mistake on my part. I should have dashed the same notice off to the CCL and FOID admins at the same time but guess I thought they'd automatically share info as they did when they issued the CCL and automatically updated the FOID.

 

We are half way home....I'll update this thread when the FOID gets sorted.

Update: Just got a phone call from the ISP and was told my corrected FOID with the correct address was mailed with the corrected CCL I received yesterday. So, I'll be surprised if I don't have all of this resolved by the end of today or tomorrow. Super Kudos and thanks to the ISP - they have been extremely attentive and fast to react to the issue.

 

I remain impressed. Customer service as far as my CCL and FOID has been concerned has been very impressive.

I too was expecting the worst. I figured they would've hit you up for the $80 for the address change and put you at the end of the line. Hat's off to ISP for handling this matter so quickly and congrats to you for getting it all straightened out without going "postal". Pun intended

i even got a phone call from a gentleman at the ISP on Thursday telling me that they had put the corrected FOID in the mail and that if I didn't receive it in 7 days to call him directly. Truthfully, this is the best Customer Service I have seen for many years. I'm a firm believer that we can judge an organizations CS skills by the way it deals with it's screw ups and, in this regard, the ISP get a A+ rating from me. 35 days from application to license in hand - there was a typo on the address and it took them 1 week to the day to resolve the issue and get proper cards in my hand.

 

I'm sure there are legitimate horror stories but my CCL story is pretty impressive. Well done to the State of Illinois and the Illinois State Police. I am impressed and thankful.
