ATF bans 40mm flares and chalk rounds

From the article:

The ATF is on a bit of a hit streak when it comes to random reclassifications. First they arbitrarily and capriciously changed their collective mind on the pistol stabilizing brace. Then they tried to ban M855 ammunition by branding it as “armor piercing.” Now it seems that they are turning their gaze upon some of the less common items and applying their similarly capricious thought processes. The latest targets are types of projectiles which can be fired from 40mm grenade launchers, specifically parachute flares and chalk practice rounds. And their ruling could soon be expanded to include all ammunition bigger than 1/2 inch in diameter . . .

More and more it seems that the ATF is just trying to do things to justify their existence. None of this is needed or necessary.

Obama is trying to enforce elements of the UN Small Arms Treaty by administrative means, since ratification was soundly rejected by the Senate. 40 mm rounds are "grenade" ammunition, banned as military type weapons by the treaty. The treaty bans any calibers used by the military, including .7.62x51, 5.56x45, 9mm and .45 ACP. It frustrates Obama that he can't impress his World Order allies by banning these as well.

I thought all 40mm we're already considered AOW.

The 37mm flares are still legal though, right?

I thought the same thing until somebody told me the other day the legal process on how to obtain 40mm launchers and their munitions. If I can get one I'm installing it on my AR-15. The silent "thoomp" of a M203 being fired is my most favorite sound ever. Seeing stuff blow up afterwards is also rewarding.

Your information is 100% wrong, the treaty says no such thing. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
