borgranta Posted August 2, 2015 at 08:37 PM Share Posted August 2, 2015 at 08:37 PM Flares are specifically exempted by law. It sets a dangerous precedent since if they can break literally break any law they want than any law enforcement may decide to break any law they want including racial discrimination and when confronted claim they are just picking laws to break like the ATF. mic6010 Posted August 2, 2015 at 09:11 PM Share Posted August 2, 2015 at 09:11 PM The flares don't matter, its all the guns over .50 cal that they just banned with this order. There was a bill floating around to prevent the ATF from reclassifying ammo, yeah that needs to pass. Their draconian rule over interpretations needs to end. They completely abuse their power at every turn.

gLockedandLoaded Posted August 2, 2015 at 10:54 PM Share Posted August 2, 2015 at 10:54 PM I'm sure Obama has put a lot of pressure on the ATF to "DO SOMETHING." He is feeling desperate about ending all of this "gun violence."

GTX63 Posted August 3, 2015 at 12:13 AM Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 12:13 AM If he can get some good gun laws in place before his final State of the Union, he can showcase them as the reason for the drop in gun violence (this year, not the last 25). borgranta Posted August 3, 2015 at 03:16 AM Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 03:16 AM If the ATF is not careful they may end up inadvertently banning flares required by the US Coast Guard. USCG vs ATF.

BigJim Posted August 3, 2015 at 01:39 PM Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 01:39 PM they had been contacted by the ATF to turn in their recently purchased flare roundsThat's one request you do not have to obey. Just send them a polite letter stating you already fired them and disposed of the spent casings. What can they do?
Bitter Clinger Posted August 3, 2015 at 02:12 PM Share Posted August 3, 2015 at 02:12 PM From the article: The ATF is on a bit of a hit streak when it comes to random reclassifications. First they arbitrarily and capriciously changed their collective mind on the pistol stabilizing brace. Then they tried to ban M855 ammunition by branding it as “armor piercing.” Now it seems that they are turning their gaze upon some of the less common items and applying their similarly capricious thought processes. The latest targets are types of projectiles which can be fired from 40mm grenade launchers, specifically parachute flares and chalk practice rounds. And their ruling could soon be expanded to include all ammunition bigger than 1/2 inch in diameter . . . More and more it seems that the ATF is just trying to do things to justify their existence. None of this is needed or necessary.
Neumann Posted August 27, 2015 at 11:54 PM Share Posted August 27, 2015 at 11:54 PM Obama is trying to enforce elements of the UN Small Arms Treaty by administrative means, since ratification was soundly rejected by the Senate. 40 mm rounds are "grenade" ammunition, banned as military type weapons by the treaty. The treaty bans any calibers used by the military, including .7.62x51, 5.56x45, 9mm and .45 ACP. It frustrates Obama that he can't impress his World Order allies by banning these as well. BIGDEESUL Posted August 28, 2015 at 04:56 AM Share Posted August 28, 2015 at 04:56 AM I thought all 40mm we're already considered AOW. The 37mm flares are still legal though, right? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk I thought the same thing until somebody told me the other day the legal process on how to obtain 40mm launchers and their munitions. If I can get one I'm installing it on my AR-15. The silent "thoomp" of a M203 being fired is my most favorite sound ever. Seeing stuff blow up afterwards is also rewarding.
