Pick up person at O'hare

Both O'Hare and Midway have cell phone lots off airport where you can sit and wait till your party calls you and advises what door they are at. That prevents having to go round and round on that airport merry go round. I can't think of a better way to have an accident than going around doing the loop de loop. If you do have a fender bender, you will have to interact with someone and probably outside your vehicle.

Whenever I go to Midway to pick up/drop off I carry in the vehicle, but if I get out ,even just to help with luggage,I disarm.Never know what can happen.

This is the lawful procedure. If you stay in your car when you pick up your friend, fine to stay carrying. But if you step one foot outside the car, you cannot carry the loaded firearm. (IANAL)

Hi , I'm new to this forum . I have applied for my CCW permit , I won't receive it until the first part of April . I have been trying to find clarification on this subject , but haven't been able to find a clear answer . Thank you very much for clearing this up , Some times the Laws are not clear to me as they are written , and I know I'm not the only one that has that problem . I'm sure this will be a very helpful forum for me.

Supposed to be unloaded prior to exit

I thought the requirement to unload when exiting and storing in your trunk was dropped.

He posted that comment a year ago?

And so he did. I didn't pay attention to the post date. Sorry about that.

That is what I was taught as well in my class last month.

Actually, you can leave the car, loaded, in a no carry zone as long as it is for the express purpose of storing the gun in the trunk. The part of the law that said you have to unload first has been stricken.

Just FYI

You are correct. But TyGuy was correct when he wrote that post as well. His post is over a year old, and the law was changed in the meantime. :)
