Yea, wow is right, no way I could support that bill! Has anyone contacted the ISRA leadership and asked what their reasoning for the support is, and gotten a clear, definitive answer? Or, if it's a mistake?
mauserme Posted February 18, 2015 at 05:46 PM Author Posted February 18, 2015 at 05:46 PM I believe it is not a mistake.
ChicagoRonin70 Posted February 18, 2015 at 06:03 PM Posted February 18, 2015 at 06:03 PM I believe it is not a mistake. So, what is their reason for supporting such an obviously problematic bill? Especially if it is "combined" with something like HB399, which gives prosecutors and the courts the ability to impose an order of protection "on behalf" of someone, and then could be used to arbitrarily prevent someone from having access to firearms because an overzealous governmental legal idiot wants to exert pressure or push the issue with a gun owner.

I can't figure out why the ISRA supports a bill that seems to limit judicial discretion, which is always preferable to mandatory sentencing and whatever this turkey of a bill is. What are they thinking?

It seems they do HB265 Proponents.JPG why would they support this !!?!?!?! Are we all on board as opponents of this bill? Is todd on board? this is slightly scary. I am a member of the NRA/ISRA and I do not support this bill.
mauserme Posted February 18, 2015 at 08:32 PM Author Posted February 18, 2015 at 08:32 PM We each do our own analysis and establish our own positions based on that analysis. More often than not we come to the same or similar conclusions but sometimes we disagree, as friends do from time to time. I would not want to speak for other groups any more than I would want them to speak for us.
armadroid Posted February 18, 2015 at 08:33 PM Posted February 18, 2015 at 08:33 PM In my opinion any gun control is wrong!

One voice doesn't have much impact, several voices might.
snooter Posted February 18, 2015 at 09:24 PM Posted February 18, 2015 at 09:24 PM and my reason for not giving the ISRA a dime for at least 20 years now is sound judgement..that bunch of fudds has dropped the dime on me more than once..i need to stop before i get the pm from the powers that be..

RoadyRunner Posted February 18, 2015 at 11:02 PM Posted February 18, 2015 at 11:02 PM Subcommittees seem to be where bills go to die.
mauserme Posted February 19, 2015 at 12:59 AM Author Posted February 19, 2015 at 12:59 AM They can move back to the substantive committee, and we'll also have to be watchful for amendments on other bills. We're still very early in a two year process. For now, we're in a better place than when the day started.
