SIG Responds to the ATF Regarding AR Pistol Brace

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see a huge deal here, other than the ATF changing their mind on an issue.

If you're weak and want the brace to be able to shoot one handed, then use the brace to shoot one handed.

If you want an SBR, go through the motions and get an SBR.

No offense, but I'd say probably 99% of people who bought the Sig brace simply wanted an SBR without all the hoops involved. Now the ATF is simply calling them out.

Basically, people were being sneaky and got caught.

How does moving the firearm from one spot to another "redesign" it?

Are pistols SBRs because I use two hands and a pistol is defined as a firearm designed to fire single handedly?

Are pistols SBRs if I put the slide to my shoulder?

If I put the AR pistol 1" off my shoulder it's a pistol and legal, but I move it 1" to touch my shoulder and I "redesigned" it somehow and now it's illegal?

This sort of lunacy is what we should stop. You do not "redesign" a firearm by moving it without changing the physical layout of the firearm at all.

A reasonable decision by the ATF now undermined by behind the scenes political pressure. That's what I am getting out of all this.

That was my thought too, they are 'cracking down' on anything they can with their rulemaking ability.

The bottom line now is that the SBR situation has gotten so stupid, that the they just need to come off the NFA

Agreed. And let's take suppressors off the registry while we're at it.

Yep, another item that shouldn't be on there.

tangentially related, you have to love BATFE (il)logic:

You know, because using something in a way other than intended is redesigning it. So if it’s intended as a cool little flower pot/paper weight, that’s what it is, right? http://www.triangletactical.net/2015/01/27/ares-armor-99-lower-receiver-not-intended-to-be-a-firearm/ and http://aresarmor.com/store/Item/99percentlower

Since the Taurus Judge shoots shotgun shells doesn't that make it a sawed-off shotgun?

It doesn't have a shoulder thing that goes up!

And lets not forget the best one regarding standard capacity magazines.............. she said " if they shoot all the bullets, they won't have anymore to shoot"

Oh if I could only find that video clip.............

Edit to add: Ahh yes, Rep. Diana Degette "“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those know they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
