Coming to you live from Walmart... My ccl is about an hour old. I have my shield on my hip and my kahr in my pocket. Blood is not flowing in the isles.

Of course, one does not simply Wally walk and not check the ammo isle.

No 22 or 380 in Palatine. Lots of 9, 40, 45, 223 though.

I put forth the proposition before that it is not really the "Walmart Walk" if it is a Walmart that doesn't sell ammo - call me a Wally Walk snob if you like, but that's my opinion.

If you actually score ammo (for a gun that you fire), then BONUS.

BTW mistakenly buying 22 Win Mag when you meant to buy .22LR doesn't count.

I was in Springfield today... No 22LR to be found anywhere. But I did buy some Federal 45ACP at Dick's Sporting and some Hornady Critical Defense 380 at Scheels. Could have bought some WWB 45ACP at the Wal Mart on 6th Street, but was hoping for 22LR and didn't decide to buy 45ACP until later in the day.

Anybody know of a good source of Unique powder?

The brand is Perfecta, made by Fiocchi.

That's what I picked up in Oswego today too. I figured that at $13 and change I would give it a shot.

But as Oswego is still restricted to 3 boxes (I asked when that was going to change and the Sporting Goods guy said he would check on it), I only picked up one box since I scored two 100rd boxes of 38 SPL.

I've posted this on another site I frequent about a year ago. I just tested it and it still works great! This is for those who would like to check your local Walmart for in-stock ammo before heading out. When you search for ammo, their site will tell you that stock info is unavailable, but that's only because they block it. These steps will un-block it. AFAIK, it only works on IE. As an example, I searched my Walmart for Federal 9mm 100-round boxes. No luck, but they have them in stock at Harvard and Burlington and limited stock in Streamwood.

Go to WalMart.com
Search for the ammo you want
Put your pointer on the picture of the ammo from the search results and click "quick look"
Click the "See Product Details" link; the new window will say "store information not available" because WalMart has simply blocked it
Click the "tools" icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser window (the gear icon next to the star and house)
Click "F12 developer tools" and a new window will open
Type "store_msg" in the "Search HTML" box and click the search icon (magnifying glass)
In the left pane, a line should appear with "store_msg" highlighted in yellow
Click the + sign at the beginning of that line; it should change to -
In the right pane, the bottom line should say "display: none"; uncheck that box
Now look at the WalMart store info box - it will say if it's in stock, out of stock, limited stock, or not carried at the store
You can also now click the "find at another store" link in the box and it will show stock at all the stores in the area

Have fun ammo hunting! And it also shows CCI Mini Mags in limited stock at Streamwood to boot. They must have gotten a shipment of ammo in this weekend...

I ran across another non-standard sign this weekend.

http://www.illinoiscarry.com/forum/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-3474-0-15007100-1397477537.gif

Hinsdale Management Corporation has posted these signs on their office buildings. They own several large office buildings in Oak Brook, Elmhurst and Hinsdale.

http://www.hinsdalemanagement.com/index.php

Since it was a non-compliant sign I ignored it. IMO a non compliant sign means that they can ask you to leave or you might be trespassing, but you wouldn't be charged under ILCS 430. In case anyone is wondering the small print doesn't reference 430 ILCS. It is just some blurb about the printer.

I've never seen a representative from Hinsdale Mgmt Corp at the office building - just the tenants and they haven't posted their individual offices.

I did not feel like unloading and transporting and I didn't want to disarm.

Well I had a really great trip to Bridgeview Wallyworld today!

First, I felt really safe fight off the bat because I saw an official zombie response vehicle.

I then found their ammo case in the best shape it's been in for at least a year.

And I snagged 1000 rounds of tula .223 in 2 500rd spam cans for $260 after tax. Which is awersome!

Then I ran into a friend that I tipped off about the 9mm ammo I heard was in stock. she never bought ammo there before, so I led her to the ammo case.

And the kids are content and passed out nice and early because they burnt all their energy destroying the toy aisles.

Not a single tardmo blocked my way or stood in front of me staring into space either. Must have been tard free day or something.

All in all, one of the best Walmart trips I've had in quite a while.

I'm completely natural when carrying, I even forget my gun is in my pocket sometimes. The R9 is so small and so lightweight, the only thing I do occasionally that might give me away is that, because I sometimes forget my gun is there, I absentmindedly pat my front pocket.

And it's not like I do it every 10 minutes or anything either.

Wow! That's one nicely stocked Wal-Mart. My local (Matteson) has always had a dismal display. I'll have to get around more. #2760
