POSTED! - NO CARRY Signs

Just had a conversation with my local Shop n Save because they had the sign up. I've been shopping there for years and they have good folks working there. The manager said folks 'came down from Chicago' and posted the sign. He was apologetic and said he would have a CCL as well. We shook hands after a pleasant conversation. Handed him THE CARD...and walked out for the last time.

Entered in the data base.

I will be checking my Shop n Save in Collinsville to check on their store. Also will give out the card if they have signage.

They are a SuperValu company.

Here is some contact info so you can let them know how you feel.

Also, a bit of digging shows that Cub foods is also a Supervalu company. It appears that they have a 'no guns but we don't want to post it and pi** people off' policy. Fortunately it looks like there are only 2 Cub stores left in IL, put from what I can see this policy is the same in all their stores.

How do you submit an edit to http://rightapp.net/...ayIllinois.php?

Walmart on 59 in Joilet is shown incorrectly. No gun sign is for employees and vendors only.

I just wanted to add that the Pontiac and Normal Walmart stores have the same signs.

I was at this "Joilet" WalMart 1 hour ago (it's really Shorewood IMO) and the signs ARE NO LONGER posted.

Fast Track convenience store in East Alton / Wood River.

I stopped for a 6-pack on my way home from work today, as they have a couple slots in their beer cooler that they rotate out with various craft beers. I didn't notice the sign on my way in, as someone was holding the door for me (this could be a topic of its own).

I noticed it on my way out of the parking lot...glanced at the doors and there it was.

Incidentally, this was apparently the first submittal for the East Alton / Wood River area into the posted app... do I win a prize? ;)

I saw a kind-of posting today at the Cricket in the mall at 87th and the Dan Ryan as I was going to the Home Depot in the same mall. I say kind-of because it wasn't a legal sign, it was just a pic of a gun with the red circle and slash but none of the required wording. None of the other stores there were posted.

Anyway, that's the closest I've seen so far.

All Cricket stores will be posting signs. I posted somewhere else...maybe earlier in this thread that one of the corporate IT guys told me he had to loosen their web filters so the stores could print out the no guns signs. It was a corporate mandate that all IL stores post the sign.

This is an employment law question. The Illinois State Police cannot give legal advice to employers; however, the law is not written to preempt a private employer’s right to have more restrictive employment policies. If a business owner or employer wants to prohibit only employees, they should not post the required sign as doing so makes the location a prohibited place. Rather, this should be addressed through appropriate employment policies.

I very politely informed the Asian female clerk the other night that the signs come down or I take my commercial account to FedEx if they aren't posted.

Absolutely! Funny thing, though. The only penalties for NOT POSTING as required by law are for establishments getting >50% of their gross receipts from alcohol sales. There are no penalties for anyone else NOT POSTING as required.

But what is the penalty for carrying into one of the 23 prohibited places even if they neglected to post signage as required by law?

Anyone?

Anyone?

I believe I have the answer here for your question at least for hospitals. Probably have answers to a few questions once I find were is best to post this crap ton of paper work dropped on my desk here at the hospital.

If you carry here they state:

The Adventist policy is that any individual (including patients, visitors, vendors and staff) entering the Hospital Property with possession of a weapon will be informed that weapons are not permitted on Hospital Property, and will be asked to immediately:

  • leave the building, and secure the firearm in his or her vehicle, or take the firearm home, or
  • turn the weapon over to a person accompanying them, who then leaves the Hospital Property

  • What if the person refuses to remove the firearm?

  • Any Main Hospital Campus: If the individual refuses to comply, and you are on the main campus of a Hospital, immediately notify the Security Department staff who will notify the local police department and request assistance as needed.
  • Physician Office or Other Offsite Location: Local police will be called immediately and assistance will be requested if the patient does not leave the premises in a timely manner.

We are not required to provide non-emergency care to patients who refuse to comply with these requests.

Im going to go with this will apply to most of the 23 places.

I'm somewhat confused about this thread. What is to prevent any and all private establishments in your part of IL from posting these signs? Does that effectively prevent concealed carry for you? The media is constantly bashing gun owners and casting us in a negative light, so I can only foresee more of these signs going up everywhere. This is especially true for establishments that serve alcohol since many were threatened with revocation of their liquor license unless they posted the no guns allowed signs even if alcohol did not account for a majority of their sales.

The purpose is/was to provide a way to add locations to the Posted! mobile app, and to access the data, even when you're at your PC. It's a way to help plan a trip or just make dinner reservations at carry friendly restaurants. See the opening post for links.
