Walmart 101 Stocking Info... Ammo is being rationed out to all Walmarts from the distribution points (rationing is likely proportional to the stores previous demands), you just need to time your purchase when your local store actually gets some... The trucks are unloaded 3rd shift every day, if it's a 24 hour Walmart bullets hit the shelves between 9PM and 1AM, third shift stockers usually starts at 10:30PM (and have a 30 minute pep talk before hitting the floor) but I have seen some night managers stocking the ammo a little early since it's a 'secured' item and needs the ammo case key to stock, and they don't want to be bothered later if no official sporting good guy is working that will have the key... Beyond that sometimes the stockers are slow in unloading the truck other times they are fast so the window when the ammo actually hits the floor is about the hours listed above... Note that if it's not a 24/7 Walmart you will need to be there when the doors open to get whatever was stocked the night before, they generally only stock after the store closes in these locations... If it's a 24/7 Walmart that has limited ammo sales to only day hours, you can head there sometime in the wee hours of the morning to see what is staring back at you in the case, either sit down and get in line or come back before they start selling and hope the line isn't too big... At some of the 24/7 Walmarts by me a line starts to form about 9PM on a daily basis, but with the 3 box limit and multiple calibers being sought you can still usually get something, that is if something comes in... BTW in short you will know the regulars and it makes for some chuckling conversation as you wonder if anything will come in and who will get it, you also get to know what each guy wants so you can gauge if you have a chance to get what you want... For example I know there are regulars around me that are only interested in .223/5.56 so if they are in front of my, I know that 9mm, 22lr for example will be passed over by them putting me first in line for said ammo... BTW, look at the skids coming out of the back, if they have a funky 'green' stripe on the boxes that means they are pulling the sporting goods items off the truck at that moment, make haste to the ammo counter, or get a hold of a manager to see if any ammo came in (they lock it in a safe in the back when it's pulled off the truck until it's brought to the floor by someone that has a key and can drop it right in the display) If devoting the time isn't worth it to you, then you will likely only find empty shelves, but some time and diligence will pay off, trust me I managed to get enough ammo to keep me happily shooting without worrying too much...

Funny, they had quite a few shotgun shells when I was in there last night... Guess I will call back in a month and check the status, or go there and see if it is in stock. I think I am going to buy a game camera and set it up across from the ammo counter to see if anything ever hits the shelf, or when it hits the shelf. It's almost like hunting...

Canned response by a minimum wage employee that doesn't care and it tired of the calls for ammo... As I said above all the Walmarts are still getting ammo on a regular basis, it's just trickled in randomly and flies off the shelf in literally minutes, but it's coming in regularly, at least every few days from my experience and observations... Last night for example I passed on 7.62 at one Walmart and passed on .45 ACP at another, that was fresh stock that came in last night for both stores, I guarantee it's gone now but I'll bet both stores will be getting more ammo before the weekend is over...

They had a ton of WWB .22-250 100 rd. boxes. I wish I had a .270 heh. Every walmart I've been to has had a ton of Remington .270. I snagged a box of Rem UMC .40 S&W at Dunhams of all places for $25 (they raised the price from $18) and 3 boxes of Pvri .40 at a Walmart in Iowa. The sporting goods dept manager asked me why I live in "that commie ****hole" and told me to put away my FOID when I started to pull it out of my wallet. I know several people that grab the steel stuff for range shooting or out in the field plinking so that they don't have to chase and collect their higher valued brass...

I managed to get 400 rounds of .45 though. It was nice to have another FOID holder with me this time. He was looking for 9mm, so I sort of got lucky that it sold right before we got there.

It is now for range users only..... I personally prefer going to ASC if I am going to make a day of it, or Rinks if I just want a little range time, so that is no longer a valid source.

Out of .45 tho....sorry it was there and i was there with family D=. If that guy behind me is on the forum, I apologize to you too, but I haven't been able to find .45 in 2 weeks and its ALL MINE!

Sound like every store has their own rules. Also sounds like everyone else is getting ammo other than us here in Metro East (O'Fallon/Belleville areas). Oh well, not looking for ammo until June. That is my goal.

Called, got a older gentleman who told me they had a late truck and he had just put some out, the ammo was in the store for less than 45 minutes. Did i get super lucky this time? heck yes i did. Will it happen again? Most definitely. Get the app and check their stock, walmart gets ammo mon/wed/fri trucks are unloaded on 3rd shift (usually) Call, ask for store manager, verify they have some, and swing by when sporting good opens.. I checked while i was at work (before i got a TLO), if they got some, i called when i got out and swung past on my way home. Is this going to work 100% of the time for everyone? Unfortunately, experience says no. Will it help someone else? I hope so, this methods how i've been getting ammo for the last few months, including 8 boxes of federal .223 . Just takes patience, and DON'T pay BS price gougers. Just be polite and understand that this ammo policy isn't under control of anyone in the store, and most of them hate it more than we do that they cant just restock whenever they run out. Limit at the Joliet Walmart is 3 boxes (almost all the ones around here are 3), i just lucked out and dragged my family with me. Now i can stay the whole day at the range instead of driving for an hour , staying for an hour, and driving an hour home!

I trust it about as much as I trust Mark Kirk. I went into a Walmart in Iowa because it said they had WWB .45 ACP in stock and walked out with 3 boxes of Pvri .40S&W. Same place where I accidentally found three 100 rd. boxes of Federal Champion .45 ACP. I don't abide price gougers. If the price isn't right I'm not buying and I have plenty of brass (or soon to be brass), small and large pistol primers headed my way too. Managed to snag 1k of CCI SP for $26 and 1k of Remington LP primers for $30 last night along with some Hodgdon and IMR powder. Would've ordered more primers but they had a 1k limit per "variety."
