Thats 1575 rds! have to ask where - have been looking for 22lr and have come up empty i concur. i haven't been able to shoot my 22lr because i don't really stockpile 22 ammo.

Yep,check FOID card is valid (aka not expired) and verify age, 18 for rifle ammo, 21 for pistol ammo... Personally for FTF I have always asked someone to be 21 just because...

They had 2 boxes of Winchester .380 , several boxes of .40s , and several boxes of .45 ACP . All were FMJ and 100 round ct. The .45 ACP were $45 a box. They also had 3 boxes of Winchester .22 LR 333 count @ $14 and change . Probably all gone by now .

I was in line with my 5 box limit, at that time and I know I took the last box off the shelf. They still had .45, .357 and lots of 10 mm. Some .40, but only high velocity 22lr, and not much of that.

As everyone knows it's VERY hard to find right now. I was in the local Farm and Home store today and they had some sub sonic .22lr at $3.49 a box/100. The kid behind the gun counter said they were basically a .22lr with no powder, primer only. I'm not familiar with these at all and wondered if they would be enough to work semi auto's like the Ruger 10-22 or Marlin semi autos? Would the round be enough to work the action or is the lack of powder going to keep it from cycling properly?

I needed to run some errands yesterday morning - went to my local Rural King and two Wal-Marts in my area (Belleville/O'Fallon). Found nothing. Again. Spoke to the gentlemen working the gun counter at Rural King. He was sick of it all. He relayed that the SAME guys come every single day and buy every single round they can (according to the limits) each time they are in the store. Up to $800 in some cases. The gun counter guy can't even buy the ammo since he works there. Dude got a supply of .223, .22, 9mm, and .40 in WED night, put it out first thing THU morning and it was gone by noon. I asked him if he was allowed to put a little on the shelves at a time - nope. If it is there, he has to stock it. Crazy! So, here is photo proof that nothing is ever stocked here in the Metro East area...ever. These are my Wal-Marts, they both look the same...so I used the same photo for each. I took a buddy's kid to the range to teach him how to shoot a Ruger 10/22. We went through a box of 550. Just trying to re-stock. Also put 60 rds through my AR, again...thought I would see if I could restock at normal prices. The counter guy was at Rural King. I am not desperate enough to waste my time following ammo trucks and waiting in line with a bunch of dudes like I am waiting on buying NASCAR tickets. Will wait. Just venting.

One of the guys he coyote hunts with is the owner of a major ammo wholesaler in the Quincy area. The wholesaler asked the reps from several manufacturers what the deal was and was told the same by all of them. He said that the first time Obama was elected everyone got afraid he was going to ban guns so they started buying everything in sight. Manufacturers, due to the spike in demand, put on more shifts and hired more people to keep up. But by the time they got up to speed to meet the higher demand, the demand was already dropping. The mini boom was over and some had made so much ammo they were grossly overstocked. They ended up laying off workers, and even temporarily closing down some manufacturing lines. This time they decided not to go that route. Past experience taught them that this is just a "mini boom" and according to them it will be over soon. Instead of trying tom meet the unusually high demand they are continuing to chug along at the pace they always have, or maybe a little faster, but they aren't going to increase production by hiring more people only to have to lay them, and many of their long time employees off. Don't know if the guy knows what he's talking about or not. But that was his explanation of the situation

As I got over to the ammo shelves, I noticed a small group of people gathering together around a couple employees stocking something. Turns out it was Herters .223 @$6.99/box, limit 5. There was about 10 cases worth put out. I grabbed 5 and checked out. My brother was in the car waiting in the parking lot. As I checked out, I called him and told him to come in and get some if he needed it. Within those 5 minutes, the stock level went from about 500 boxes to under 25. He managed to get 5 but was among the last.

In Loves Park, Il. at Bullet stop has 9mm/40/45/223-556 ammo but limit to two boxes per person. the price is almost double the early December prices. I paid $24 for two boxes of 115 grain 9mm fmj. I only bought so I could shoot that week. Otherwise, I'm not stocking anything but buying only what I shoot. I'm shoot less than the recent past but at least I'm still shooting.
