Obama has more important things to do than gun control? I always though that argument was laughable at best, I mean how busy do you have to be to throw your signature down, particularly for something you believe so deeply in. I'm sure he would cut his daily basketball game 20 seconds short to sign anti-gun legislation.

Congress most certainly doesn't have anything better to do, else we wouldn't be seeing this so early.

As for no one following the law if it was passed, if you are a hunter or if you are in a carry state, you would be pretty much forced to follow the law, unless you didn't care about the jail time and the loss of your weapons. Even if you didn't register, the federal governement could get legal warrants to search just by looking through state records and see that you have a FOID, or had a carry permit. We have also seen that IL does have some records of what specific firearms people own, eventhough there is no formal registration. This information could be used to get a warrant, and because the serach is reasonable in the face of a violation of federal law, it would not be a violation of the 4th Amendment.

IL only knows that a dealer called in for approval number for a handgun, long gun or both. They do not know what kind of guns or how many. Actually they do not know if the transaction was ever completed.

They would have to get the dealers bound book and 4473 to chase down the dealer purchases.

You would be forced by the unconstitutional law. If this passes anyone disregarding the licensing law will risk punishment. The question is, how many will go with what they believe in and disregard government decree? Even in Canada the citizens resisted registration, surely here in the land of the free we can shrug this off.

I didn't catch how this was going to be paid for. I'm assuming licensing fees, yet another constitutional conflict.

We would have to register what? I turned all those things in at Daley's last buy back, that's why there's no record of a sale! Have a nice day!

Same here. I turned them all in at the last buyback at the end of July. I refused the gift card they gave me. I wasn't doing it for the money. I did it for the children.

OK Folks,

First its Obama from Land of Lincoln, then its Blago, Burris, etc..

But now Bobby Rush (racist) is going to put all of us in my State at the forefront of the gun issue.

Its definitely time to be heard!

If I have to go door to door to hand out FOID applications, I will do it to put a STOP to this madness.

Honestly, I think we need to start doing this more. The forms are free, it's only $10 for ten years, and doesn't commit the card holder to anything. I'm sending one in for each of my boys this week and encouraging everyone in my family to get one, even if I have to pay for it. Next, I'll start with my neighbors and coworkers. Having those numbers go up beyond 9% of the population can only help our cause.

I'm going to start this thread with a quote from The Art of War - Sun Tzu

Your Battleground is not to be known, for when it cannot be known, the enemy makes many guard outposts, and since multiple outposts are established, you only have to do battle with small squads.

So when the front is prepared, the rear is lacking, and when the rear is prepared the front is lacking. Preparedness on the left means lack on the right, preparedness on the right means lack on the left. Preparedness everywhere means lack everywhere.

This is the main tactic used in revolution where a smaller force confronts a larger conventional Army. There is a reason here in Afghanistan the Taliban have the rural areas while Coalition forces have the cities. Why during Cuba, Batista had the cities while Castro had the rural mountainside, and when Batista tried to guard everywhere he was vulnerable to Castro's force of less then 100, and why our government legislators should truly fear the American people if their anger is ever awakened due to such laws ever being passed .
