I'm not giving up,I'll still do the witness slips. It just feels like trying to dig a hole in sand. I wish we could actually see/hear the opposition actually saying the slips made a difference. I would venture a guess that behind the scenes they're laughing at us[as they file another crappy anti-gun bill]. Thanks to mauserme for making it easy to file the slips.

Funny,I've never encountered that attitude downstate where my son lives. Maybe he's not "downstate" enough[Crawford County]. We talk about all kinds of firearms,ARs included.

I did the bolt release mod on mine,never got around to to getting an extended mag release but want to at some point. Biggest improvement [that I notice] was the Volquartsen drop-in hammer. Really improved the trigger pull.

It's going to be a tough choice to make,for sure. I really don't see them putting scores of people in prison for this,especially senior citizens with no prior criminal record. The optics would be for sure negative.Hope I'm wrong. FYI-I'm just a young punk[70] and at/approaching the IDGAF stage of my life.

So how are they judging fps, advertised or actual? Are the police running around with chronographs?
When one orders from a big online airgun retailer[like Pyramyd Air],they go by the listed specs. My last purchase was a .25 break barrel,specs listed at 600fps. Also have a couple .22s,both under 700 fps. Try putting a .22 over 700 fps in your cart,order will be cancelled.[Don't ask how I know] Places like the Cabelas by me put all the pellet rifles behind the counter,claiming[erroneously] that they need a FOID for all of them.

According to these guidelines,a TX-22 with 16rd mags and threaded barrel is a scary "assault" weapon. A freaking .22 rimfire.

In the small SE Illinois town where my son is a LEO,I have a feeling this new law is at the bottom of the list for enforcement. Like mentioned previously,in a big city it might be a whole different priority.

I was initially planning on picking up a Kershaw launch, until I read the reviews... seems it's not uncommon for them to open and not lock up fully.Has anyone here dealt with GPknives ? They have some nice prices and a 618 area code ( Southern Illinois ).
Yes, highly recommend them. Picked up an OTF from them today. Huge selection in the store now of autos in addition to online.

I wanted to update this in case anyone else was thinking of getting a Kershaw. My Kershaw Launch 6 came in the mail today. I bought from GPKnives and recommend them highly.
I opened the box and opened the blade. There was no wobble side to side nor up and down, really solid knife. I started playing with it by repeatedly firing the blade. After about 30 openings it hadn't failed to lock and I thought , " well nothing wrong with this knife!" . You all have heard about those famous last words , or in this case thoughts ...... , well I fired the blade again and no lockup.
As long as you hold this knife loosely between your thumb and first finger with the other fingers just touching the handle to stabilize the knife , it will lock every time you fire it. If you take a firm hold on this knife so that the handle part of the knife can't move when the blade is fired , it will fail to lock every time. There is only about a 1/16" of the plunger that contacts the blade to hold it open.
This is a very well made knife and very sharp blade if it only had a better lock. I will now be looking for a different brand unfortunately .
FWIW-I picked up a LAUNCH 5 from GAT today- I tried to duplicate the aforementioned malfunction-couldn't get it to do it. Worked fine every time. I lost my Kershaw AO on vacation a few weeks back-this will fill the bill.

Stopped at GAT today. They had about 8 autoknives-Boker,Kershaw,Gerber. Lady said to stop back in a week,they'll have a lot more.

Did it several years ago. My reps were nowhere to be found. I'll keep doing witness slips,emails,etc but no more trips to Springfield for me. Besides,the 18th is my Bday and you shoot for free at GAT [2 minutes from me] on your birthday,which I'll do that day.
