I never received that email, but my case took around 4 months from the time my evaluation was sent to the time my FOID arrived.

Just that I had my FOID revoked few months ago due to incident from 5 years ago and I wanted to ask how can I check on any updates. I also mentioned that I had doc evaluation done and sent to them. I added that guns are my hobby and that I need my guns to protect my family. That was pretty much it. Fee days after my FOID became active. Could be coincidence, but I feel like email helped.

They sent an email on 2/8 that my FOID is active as of 2/7. But it was in response to my email from a week before asking for any updates. Also my new FOID arrived on 2/11 so they are pretty fast once they get to your case.

How to Appeal Revoked or Denied FOID
AlexK replied to Molly B.'s topic in Illinois FOID Application, Renewal & Appeal Process
If you know when the incident happened then I don’t think you really need FOIA, you can just wait until 5 years from this incident is up. -
How to Appeal Revoked or Denied FOID

I was in the same spot. I thought really hard what could have been. I had one incident with police, no arrest, no charges, no court etc. But it was the only thing I could think of. So I sent FOIA request to that police department requesting any incident reports that they had on me from that year. They sent me the report from that day and on the bottom it was stated that they filled C&PD with ISP. I waited for 5 years to pass from that incident and then started the appeal process. -

Yes exactly. It was revoked in 08/2022 for incident from 10/2017. -

I sent in Request For FOID Investigation form in late December https://isp.illinois.gov/StaticFiles/docs/FirearmsSafety/Forms/2-707 11-20 Request FOID Investigation Relief Reinstatement Firearms Rights Form.pdf I sent in the FOID and Fiream disposition form in August after my FOID was revoked. Dr. Brenzinger sent in my mental health cert in mid October. This is all I sent. Also I sent an email inquiring about my case to the new board email address last week, and today I received response that my FOID is active as of 02/07/2023. Hopefully you are next! -
How to Appeal Revoked or Denied FOID

Good news from me! My FOID changed status to active yesterday. FOID was revoked in August due to incident from over 5 years ago. Appeal was sent a few months ago and Mental Health Evaluation (5 or more years case) was sent in by the doctor in mid October. -
Good news! I inquired about any updates on my FOID a few days ago, and today I received an email that my FOID card is active as of 02/07/2023 and I that I should receive it in the mail within 30 days. I checked my staus on ISP website and both my FOID and CCL are showing as active! Check your ISP accounts if you are in the 5 or more years mental cetrification situation. Thank you so much for your help!

I also saw that doctor for my evaluation. What confuses me is that on ISP website it now says that mental health evaluations for 5 years or more cases don’t need to appeal to be the new board, but email I received mentioned the board. https://www.isp.illinois.gov/FoidCardReviewBoard If you were a patient in a Mental Health Facility more than five years ago, you do not need to appeal to the FCRB for relief. Rather, you will need to utilize the Illinois State Police, Office of Firearms Safety, Other Types of Firearms Rights Restorations Tab and select Mental Health Admission – more than five years ago.

Thank you! Do you know if anything changes to revocations due to the C&PD from over 5 years ago? I sent in my paperwork and doctor sent in 5 or more years mental health certification to ISP in October, should I just apply for FOID again? Or continue to wait? I received this email from ISP yesterday, in response to my email asking for any updates that I sent in December. Thank you!
-
Just received this today, I asked about any updates in my case in December. Also on ISP website it now states that appeals for more that 5 years won’t need to go to FCRB. My case is 5 or more years type and mental health cert was sent to ISP in October.

Do you know how long did it take? From the evaluation to reinstating FOID?
