That's true, but when there are opportunities to unite people through gun rights, we shouldn't polarize them with our other views, whatever they may be. Over the past 2-3 years, plenty of people purchased firearms and got into the hobby / culture. We should capitalize on that. I think the firearm community dropped the ball a bit. We need to focus on encouraging positive firearm culture

I think it is a bad strategy to lump the abortion issue with the gun issue. If you want to win any particular policy, you need to isolate and de-politicize the issue. Pushing prochoice/prolife things along with gun rights just alienates a bunch of people who would have been pro gun rights. I think our strategy should be trying to push all candidates and parties more pro gun. I don't know exactly how, but I do know lumping in pro life with gun rights is a sure way to help Illinois lose more gun rights. Abortion issues are not going to change in Illinois. Take the L. Get a candidate that can speak to the normie city dwellers on how Illinois Gun laws hurt minorities and the working class disproportionately. This might be controversial, but I'm just laying out my thoughts because I am optimistic on gun rights getting better in Illinois with the right strategy. I just don't think Bailey is the right strategy. Electing politicians isn't the only way forward. We can invest in culture. If we change the culture, if we promote gun ownership, if we educate, etc that can make gun rights a non political issue. Progressives know this, that is why all their policies don't just go for 'safety' but actively discourage gun ownership, carry and use.

What should someone who is lawfully carrying do in a case like this?

Maybe he isn't an Illinois resident and had a carry permit in another state? I'm interested if anyone knows any more information here. I haven't seen the high capacity magazine thing enforced in Chicago before.

Hey, I wanted to ask if anyone has any resources on Illinois law before conceal carry went into effect. I know that Illinois was no issue, but I specifically want to know if there were any exceptions to the no issue. Were people who were former LEO, judges, politicians, etc able to carry?

You aren't wrong, but I think the main information here is we will get an opinion from the Illinois Supreme Court this week on this case.

So, essentially, we can transfer firearms to close family members (parents, brother, etc) as long as they have a foid, without extra paperwork, or hoops?

What are the laws regarding lending firearms to immediate family? Assuming the family members have a valid foid, I'm finding conflicting information.

Now Im reconsidering. Even if I will be living in Indiana, I will be spending a lot of my time in Illinois. Maybe its worth it to get a condo outside of Cook County instead. Maybe by some miracle the Supreme Court carry case will have some reciprocity or at least able to apply for other state's CCLs

Is there any workaround? Like dual residency?

Hey all. I did some quick google searches but haven't had any luck finding the answer to this. I may be able to move to Indiana within the next year or two. Work has gone completely remote on a permanent basis. I know my CCL will be invalid as soon as I make the move. Will I still be able to apply for an Illinois CCL as an Indiana resident? My work (which I may have to go to occasionally), parents and significant other will still be in Illinois.
