Did you receive and respond to the ISP notice of expiration? The ISP does notify FOID holders when their card is within 90 days of expiration. The FOID does give an expiration date. Once a renewal form is submitted it can take 30 to 90 days to get a new card depending on the ISP backlog of FOID update requests. Until you get it renewed beware ... the possession of even one bullet, let alone a firearm, by a non valid FOID holder can subject you to firearms charges and arrest. Good luck, renew your FOID, and until you get the renewal, get a trusted FOID holder to store your firearms and ammo, and stay off the radar. Isn't it WONDERFUL that the State of Illinois in the ONLY state to require an FOID, even for god damned bullets, wonderful ? Dumb a** law been in effect since 1968.

as part of this act, Illinois added a gem that required voluntary admissions to mental health facilities to be reported to the state and that a voluntary admission was a dis-qualifier for a FOID card and a LTC. no other states have a similar provision, so no non-residents qualify. I don't know if the wording of the law was an unintentional or deliberate thing. Either seems possible. Regardless of the applicant's home state he/she must satisfy the IL CCL requirements. How long were ou under board review? That time isn't included in the 90 day limit. That's an excellent question! Time to contact your Representative ... unless of course he/she is a Democrat in Crook County in which case you are screwed.

The problem is that the primary thing the reviewing officers are looking for is evidence that someone is a danger to themselves or others. If you're denied based on that evidence, the state would almost have to revoke your FOID since that's one of the disqualifying criteria. Should voting for Obama for re-election be an indicator?
