Mine were the same renew date in December, there were no warnings when I tried to apply for my CCL. Button would not activate. Had to renew FOID and pay then CCL app activated with info inputted with FOID app. Paid CCL and that was it . FOID just went active today, CCL immediately went to under review.

So you had to pay for the FOID renewal, as did I, there are many posts in this thread who state they did not, as usual there is confusion p.

I guess I made the mistake of renewing my FOID separately, o well it's an honor to donate $11.00 to our wonderful state.

More to the story, after I applied for renewal of the FOID & CCL the portal shows my FOID expires June 14, 2033 CCL is under review.

Today June 20, 2023 I get a letter from the ISP stating, ISP records indicate that your current FOID card is scheduled to expire on 6/14/2033 (YES 2033). To avoid any interruption in the Validity of the FOID card, you are encouraged to submit renewal....yadda yadda...

    any thoughts on this?

No expiration date, the date is only visible from the ISP dashboard. I tell students, to put some masking tape on the back and write down the dates there for easy checking.

Also, they said they did not have to pay for the FOID when they renewed the CCL, it was free. They did not submit fingerprints either for the original, or for this renewal.

I can confirm at least 4 students, renew ccl, one going back to Feb, and just got the new card. The FOID now has an expiration of 10 years from the CCL issue date. FOID was set to expire in 2027 and is now expiring in 2033, so I can confirm the auto renewal.

PS I have sent an email to ask if they had prints, or not. I'll chime in when I get that info back.

Can you confirm that the new card does or does not have any date on it?

In either case, there is no $10 renewal fee for the FOID card.  At least that is what renewing cardholders are telling me and what I see when helping people renew.

When I applied for renewal on 6/9 the renewal button was active on both the FOID and CCL so I applied and paid both the $10.00 for the FOID and the $150.00 plus fees for the CCL.

    My cc was charged.

Cards no longer have the dates. Will they send new cards post renewal, I think we are waiting to see. Right now, everyone is just getting the new combined FOID/CCL card no dates. You buy a firearm you will get an email saying your FOID card has been renewed (or something to that effect) from ISP. So, your 10 year date is shifting based on purchases.

Your CCL date is consistent, but again not listed on any card.

Since your card is 5 years away, I wouldn't worry to much about. My guess is by that time the State will have come up with something else they will want to implement. Probably microchips in your forehead or hand that requires scanning.

I like the microchip idea, harder to forget.

  7. So...

FOID Renewal went Active: February 4, 2020

I have USPS Informed Delivery and it shows arriving today (Feb 8, 2020). Yep, guess what was NOT in the mailbox; I checked the Informed Delivery box "I did not receive this mailpiece.". Hopefully, it was misdirected to a neighbor, and they will get it to me. Unbelievable!!!!

I’ve had the same thing happen several times, I checked the box and it always came the next day.

While you have 60 days to apply after moving here, new, non renewal FOID cards are supposed to be processed in 30 days while renewals are 60 business days. You should be able to take the CCL classes now. IIRC, FOID card is not required except perhaps by instructor policy. I thought I recall the ability to apply for both at the same time but dont know anyone who has done so.

    what is IIRC?
